Q. I am 21 years old and have a bilateral crossbite. My maxilla is very narrow and it is only realised recently about the possibilty of having it corrected. I was wondering about the time scale of a procedure (roughly) to finish with the braces. I understand a device has to be used to expand the maxilla first so I was concerned about the length of time the course of treatment would take. Any estimate would be much appreciated, thanks
A. Hi Gareth, As a general rule this takes quite a long time for an adult to correct, possibily 2 years with a fixed appliance and arch expander. As a guide the cost would be in the region of £3-4,000.
