how would be the wisdom teeth surgically removed

Q. Hi there around 3 years ago i went to see local dentist about my wisdom teeth ,his response was that they would need to be surgically removed as of their position,, i want to know exactly how this would be carried out,, i,m terrified of dentist ,is this operation carried out on general or local anesthetic?

A.

Most dentists would refer you to a specialist surgeon for extractions of wisdom teeth. It is entirely your own choice as to wether you want general or local anaesthetic. General aneathetic may well be the preferrable options, but there are also risks involved. You can be referred to hospital- but be aware that the waiting lists can be long. Alternatively, private oral surgeons can do the extractions. There is always a risk when having extractions- especially on impacted teeth. It is not uncommon to get swelling and bruising afterwards as well as tenderness. Whatever you decide to do, the dentists will discuss all of this with you. The surgeons who will be carruying out the treatment are usually very experienced- just to put your mind at ease. Hope this info has helped.
