How effective would tooth whitening treatment be on my tetracycline stained teeth?

Q. I have severe tetracycline staining and was looking at the enlighten teeth whitening procedure. Obviously would like to achieve really good results, but how realistic is this ..I have been shown the shades of what could be achieved of “before and after”. How do i know that this could work on my teeth because of the staining. ? Is the staining surface or through the tooth as every tooth is stained. Look forward to receiving your comments..,
A. Hello, Tetracycline staining is very difficult to bleach and achieving the amazing results often shown with whitening products can be impossible. I have had some great results in the past using professional home whitening with custom trays worn over a 6-8 week period mostly at nights.Enlighten trays can be used for this but you will need extra gel to keep whitening them for the required period of time. Your only alternative is to consider porcelain veneers but these are much more costly and will involve some trimming of the teeth.
