How can I stop my gums from receding?

Q. Hi Dr Moore, recently i noticed that my gum on the lower part of my mouth was receding. There was a time it was swollen and the gum was separated from the tooth. it went back after a while but i noticed that the gum was intact but receding,waht should i do do uneed to go get cleaned and how can i stop the gum from receding? Thank you.

A. Go to your dentist and ask him/her to take a look you may need a visit with the Hygienist to clean the area and to check the gums generally

I have been to the dentist and he said imy gum is gone balck and I have a abscess on the tooth ,he prescribed antibiotics and it settled down ,after 2 weeks it has started paining again it looks like the abscss is back ,problem is that i have had a filling on this tooth .
