does veneers cause tooth sensitivity

Q. I have recently had 6 veneers fitted to my front teeth, however my teeth now feel very sensitive to air and hot / cold food / drink. Will this last? The preparation did involve shaving my teeth down, would this be why? Also is there anything I can do to help the sensitivity?

A. Sometimes teeth can take several months to settle down.  A desensitising tooth paste may help otherwise keep the temperature extremes to a minimum and after a few months you should find the sensitivity resolved.  Antiinflammatory pain killers may also help- such as neurofen.
