Do NHS hospital offer Inman Aligners

Q. Hi, Two of my bottom teeth are crooked & i would like to have a brace to straighen them. Can you advise me how much it would cost for the cheapest brace. I’m on a tight budget & would not be able to afford Invisalign. Please advise prices on fixed braces, inman aligner’s? Also can you advise me whether NHS dental hospitals that offer private dentistry would be cheaper than other othodontics.Thanks.

A. Dear F,

Unfortunately it is not possible for me to give you a cost for different types of orthodontist as the price varies depending on the experience and overheads of each practice, as well as the large variety of different types of fixed appliances. Within my practice an Inman aligner costs from £1400, depending on the type of case I am treating. My best advice to you is to contact your local dentists and compare their prices directly.

Kindest regards

Please explain why any type of orthodontic treatment is so expensive. All the components used in the construction of an appliance are clearly priced on various supplier’s web sites and would be lucky to add up to £50 per jaw treated. The dental health, function and quality of life of a great many UK adults would clearly improve if only they could afford the orthodontic treatment they deserve. It’s no good saying we can pay by interest free installments, treatment still costs a minimum of £1500, going up to £5000. This kind of money simply cannot be found by the majority of the working class, people who work every hour they can and still striggle to pay their bills and put food on the table. Ironically, it is the working class, those who have to rely on inadequate NHS treatment that would benefit most from orthodontic treatment. We are being well ripped off by these orthodontists and it has to stop.

I agree with you Becki. It’s verging on the immoral. And it’s not just ‘working class’ people who can’t afford these prices. This recession has brought many classes to their knees.
I have just lost a tooth today. I’m a businesswoman with my own company but I dont have £2000 plus to spend on an implant. I think there must be price fixing going on as well as an industry.

i also agree, i had nhs treatment done with braces. i had 4 teeth removed and went through 3 years of agony. after removal my teeth not only went wonky again but now i have gaps too. apparently i was to wear retainers that i was never given and is now too late too wear them. privately to correct my teeth is going to cost 3300.OO POUNDS…. NOW COME ON NHS… ITS A COMPLETE MONEY MAKING SCAM!!!!!!!!!

It’s not possible to get the Inman aligner on the nhs but as far as I know it is the cheapest cosmetic treatment around. Mine was 1800 and I’m doing the monthly payments for a year
