do milk teeth have roots

Q. Please could you advise me if milk teeth have roots, my son has had a milk tooth removed this morning and it took an hour he was very distressed, I was shocked to see the size of it he is 10 yrs old and in pain his cheek is a little swollen is this normal?I have given him paracetomal is it ok to top this up with nurofen in between

A. For most children it should be OK, but check with NHS direct or a pharmacy if he has prescribed medications tablets, medical conditions ,  asthma etc etc.
Milk teeth do have roots, normally they dissolve and the tooth falls out. there are a few reasons why the root does not dissolve and this may be linked to the rteason for removal.
Hope he feels better soon and you recover from what sounds to have been traumatic for all of you
