do i need have a system of staples between the teeth to stabalise my loose teeth

Q. Recently my teeth have become loose due to gum disease. My dentist has suggested what sounds like a system of staples between the teeth to stabalise them. Have you heard of this and if so how successful is it. I am 59 years old.

A. Hi
your dentist seems to be suggesting splinting the teeth together.this does not cure the gum disease but rather helps counter problems caused by the disease such as movement of teeth by locking them together and helping to distribute the loads on them,
if the teeth are really loose you will end up losing them, you cqan try treatments to help keep them longer if they are moderately loose such as perio protect , or deep scaling
