Dentist shaved cap down but still feels too prominent?

Q. Is it usual for a cap to be too large and as a result the dentist has to grind it down in order to bite correctly. having recently had a back tooth capped and ground down it still does not feel right when chewing. It feels as though the cap is still too prominent. What would you suggest? Many thanks,
A. Hi , It is common when fitting a crown that it needs to be sitting well in conjuction witht he other teeth. An easy way to tell if it is high and still requires polishing is if your tooth is sensitive or the tooth directly below it is.Justin Glaister

That did not answer my question. To add to the original question. The cap has already been ground down and if the dentist grinds it again to fit – how much surface will be left?
