Monday, January 17th, 2011
Q.

Hello,

My ambition is to study dentistry and i am very keen in learning about apicectomy. Can it be performed in a dental practice? or would the patient have to be referred to a maxillofacial surgeon in a hospital?
i hope you can help me by answering this question.

thank you

Can my NHS dentist replace 8 amalgam fillings with composite/ceramic ones?

Friday, January 14th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr Hughes,

I have 8 amalgam fillings done 10 years ago.

In the last few months i have been thinking that these might cause bad breath as there is a tooth decay underneath. Can this be related to bad breath?

Apart from the above I have good healthy teeth and good dental hygiene and my NHS dentist doesn’t seem to think i need them replaced.

I would like to have them replaced with white composite fillings or ceramic for cosmetic reasons and for a possible relation to bad breath.

I suppose the tooth decay underneath will still be there but less visible.

I would greatly appreciate your advice.

many thanks

Q.

I don’t consider myself to have bad teeth, but they are small and have gaps. If I wanted to have them cosmetically done, which would be the best option?

I am 26 and still have my baby teeth, none of my adult teeth have come through. I also have black gums, why do you think this is? Could there be some sort of connection?
