Can I save my half broken upper tooth, else what are the alternatives

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have a small broken (upper) tooth that has nearly half missing. It doesn’t hurt. Not long ago a dentist suggested it be pulled, but it is visible when I smile and I do not want an obvious gap. Is there anything I can do to save it? And if not, what is available to fill the gap? Thank you.

I have broken decay or missing teeth what is the best option

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
My front 4 teeth are just fine on the top, however the rest on either side are either broken, decaying or missing. What would be my best bet with dentures? Partials, over dentures, or complete upper set?

My dentist wants to do is remove the crown and remaining tooth and replace it with a denture

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I fell over and knocked out half of my front tooth 11 years ago. I went to my dentist who drilled the remaining tooth and then fitted a crown. About 3 months later I developed a lump up in my gum, so I went back to the dentist who gave me antibiotics and who told me that it would go. It wasnt painful. And it never went. And I never went back to the dentist. Two years ago I developed an abcess on this tooth and was prescribed some antibiotics which cleared it up. I was meant to go back but as I am absolutley terrified of the dentist, I chose not too. Since then I had another abcess on the same tooth and my face became really swollen etc. I once again was prescribed a course of antibiotics and never went back to the dentist. What my dentist wants to do is remove the crown and remaining tooth and replace it with a denture – which – for some reason – I do not have a problem with. However, my main fear is that something bad will happen. I dont know what exactly, but im just so terrified. My tooth starts to hurt when its cold also. Is there a worse case scenario here? If I do get it removed, is part of my jaw bone likely to come away or something?? Thanks.

I have developed gum disease and the teeth under the denture has decayed can I get implants

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
Q.
As a child I spent alot of time at the birmingham dental hosptial as I was found to have a rare condition that meant i only had my first teeth and would never develop my adult teeth and was missing several of my baby teeth as well. Since the age of 13 I was given a brace/denture on the top set of my teeth to wear over my natural baby teeth that were very small. I do have my own teeth on the bottom although these are like bably teeth as well, although these do not bother me as much. Since then I was very concious and became increasingly anxious about visiting the dentist. Since then I have developed bad tooth and gum disease to the top teeth under the denture and it is so bad they are decaying and are balck, but due to my fear of the dentist and belief no one can give me a smile to be be able to show off i have not been to go to a dentist in over 10 years. I know its madness but am terrified of what will happen and the fact that i will have to wear dentures and have no teeth at my age of 26 especially when i have a job and boyfriend i cant imagine having to wear a denture. I am hoping to find someone who can help me to get some kind of smile that i have never had even as as a child. Do you believe i could be able to get some implants or treatment or do you beleive i have left it to late. Hope you can help as it has been a real problem for me for all of my life and i finally am trying to do something about it.

What is the cost of changing from denture to implant and is there a payment plan

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
Q.
Hi I wonder if you could advise me. I have several teeth missing from my upper mouth I would say maybe 6 or 7 and also a few from my lower jaw. I have a denture but I hate it so much I get really embarrassed when I talk to people and I’m always trying to hide my mouth. I would really love to get dental implants but have heard that this is very expensive. Could you tell me how much you think this would actually cost for the whole procedure and also if there is like a payment plan or any help that is available to someone on a low income.
