My front teeth are discoloured. What can be done and what will it cost?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010
Q.

Hi there…..My two front teeth are discoloured, both been rootfilled, and one has snapped in half.I have veneers at the moment but can see the tooth underneath, and also the discoloration? Im getting crowns…What type of crown would you recommend, what looks the best? Do the nhs use poor material compared to private…as this is what the dentist told me? would i need posts or bridges with the nerve being dead? Please advise as it has really knocked my confidence…but dont know what to do?

Will my maternity exemption certificate cover my cosmetic dentistry?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010
Q.

I try and look after my teeth, brushing very regular, strong mouthwash etc, but my dentist has told me that I have naturally weak teeth. I have fillings in almost every tooth and a recent pregnancy has made exsisting problems worse. Iv not got many back teeth left. Im only 26 and dont want dentures at such a young age. I cant afford implants or veneers, is there any help availiable to me? Will my maternity exemption certificate cover any cosmetic dentistry?

Medication ruined my teeth. What veneers would be most effective?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010
Q.

during my early teenage years i was put on what is believed to be the strongest medication for acne, Roaccutane. this worked a miracle but it was not without its side effects. A substantial amount of hair fell out, my skin cracked open, my joints needed cortizone injections as the joint fluid dried out, my cornea’s dried out similarly and now i need contact lenses but most importantly of all my teeth went almost transparent from calcium leeching. now my hair is fully restored, skin perfect but my teeth have been left to ruin. they are of near perfect alignment (one out due to a broken jaw) but several+ have had almalgum fillings, two crowns and rear teeth removed (surgeon said these have most blood supply and therefore more cacium deficency).
I am looking to get porcelain veneers over the top to improve their cosmetics, idealy implants but i could never raise that kind of funds.
Which type of veneer is best suited? i don’t eat many hard foods like nuts etc, t-total, don’t smoke or eat that much sugary foods but my teeth seem to get worse. Also are there any practises you can recommend in merseyside/northwest area?
Thankyou so much for taking this time to read this

PS. could there be a possibility of getting treatment through my doctor as the medication is known to have caused the damage?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010
Q.

I have lost a bit f the back of one of my bottom front teeth making the top of it very fragile. My dentist has built it up reluctantly as he says it wont last and will have to come out. Is there any hope for a crown or implant?

Will I be aware of a new bridge?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010
Q.

I need to have a bridge to replace a single front denture that I no longer fits well. My dentist recommends one which is fused to metal bands. This sounds very awkward and uncomfortable – will I be very aware of it ?

A.
No, not if it’s done well.
