I keep experiencing a sharp pain in my second molar

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
Q.
I keep experiencing a sharp pain in my second molar whenever I jump, walk briskly or shake my head from side. The pain is not noticable when I’m still or if I don’t make any sudden movements – nor does the pain last long when I feel it. What could be the cause? I’ve had a cold for the last week, could this have anything to do with the ache that I’ve only recently be suffering?

A.
Probably sinusitis

I am a dancer and want veneers do my teeth need to be straight?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
Q.
Hello, As an exprofessional dancer my smile has bothered me for many years. I have had various treatments as a child to align my teeth and endless braces, but due to going abroad never finished my treatment. Now 40 and unable to look in the mirror without feeling low about my smile,I really do want do something about it. I would like to enquire about dental veneers but I am not sure if your teeth have to be straight to have this treatment. Would appreciate any information you can give me on what I could do to improve my smile and confidence. Many thanks.

Is it necessary to have veneer for protruding right incisor?

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009
Q.
My upper left incisor is slightly discoloured and worn. The right incisor is slightly protruding. My current dental prectioner is Luton has shaped the tooth and prepped it for a veneer (yesterday). There is sensitivity in the tooth. I’m not enthusiastic about veneers, as he has already veneered the canine tooth to the left of the incisor he has prepped. The cost of venner is £400. He would like to veener the protruding right adjacent incisor, however I have refused to veneer a healthy tooth. So he has suggested contouring. Shouldn’t I just have had the left incisor contoured and not veneered?

Worried to loose tooth due to my grinding habit can I have veneers?

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009
Q.
Hello I grind my teeth a lot in my sleep and sometimes during the day when I am nervous or stressed. My dentist gave me a hard retainer which did not work. He then gave me a softer one which I chewed through. I now sleep with the hard one in and the soft one on top of that, and it helps but not completely. I am now starting to chew through them both. I have a lot of headaches, mainly tension ones, and I often wake up with tension in my neck and shoulders. I have also started to notice that my teeth have become much more sensitive and I am worrying that I am slowly grinding my teeth away and exposing nerves! I was wondering if I do (fingers crossed I don’t), would I be able to get veneers? Also would i get them free or would I pay? And if I did would they be made of something strong enough to put up with my grinding? Thanks!

Uneven shaped teeth needs to be analysed for the correct treatment.

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009
Q.
Between the ages of 17 – 19 I had traditional braces. I am now 29 and find that my teeth have relapsed over time as my dentist warned they might. I wear a nightly retainer (which is a replacement if one I had and broke) but my teeth aren’t as they were when I first had my brace removed. The main issues are: a small ‘Madonnaesque’ gap between my front two teeth and the teeth wither side of those are rather short. I was wondering between veneers, invisalign and lumineers what I could consider to correct the problem. I want something that will completely close the gap without too much damage to my teeth which are white and in very good condition.

Can bonding cover up visible silver caps?

Monday, December 7th, 2009
Q.
My 5 year old daughter had to get 2 silver caps on her lower back teeth they are visible and she is very upset. The kids are starting to tease her at school and they are the only option for treatment. I was wondering if Bonding would stick to the tooth to cover the silver. Looking forward to your response.
