Can you regrow tooth enamel?

Q. Hi Dr Patel, I don’t want to take up much of your time, as I have already done some research in this area. Having had bulimia for many years I’ve worn away some enamel and am very worried about the overall state if my teeth. It’s a very expensive solution I am aware of that. But would much prefer composite veneers if anything, as I do not want my teeth filed for porcelain veneers, I’ve heard terrible stories. I would never have that done. I have heard of something where they can regrow enamel by applying something to the tooth. Can you comment? Do you know anything about this? I am determined to try to find a fix. I had once ‘beautiful & perfect’ teeth, with many many comments on how nice they were from friends and also my dentists! Now I’m concious of them. It’s down to an injury and as a result I’ve been grinding my teeth out of frustration from not being able to exercise and chewing sweets and crunching things I know are bad for my teeth. I’ve lost a lot of bulk from the appearance of them. Need a bit of help and/or advice if poss…?,
A. You need to find a dentist you trust, I have treated a number of people like you and if the remaining tooth is healthy new teeth can be stuck to your original ones without filing them down. You do not want the teeth drilled down as there is already very little tooth left. There is hope there are lots of options for you.
