Can you drink Ribena with invisalign aligners in?

Q. Good Afternoon, I know that you can drink water with the Invisalign braces on but can you drink ribena adding to water or just plain water. Also I drink a lot of tea would that affect me having the braces on?,
A. You can only drink cold PLAIN water nothing else otherwise your teeth and aligners will stain and you increase the risk of tooth decay.

I have been drinking fruit juices with my Invisalign aligner as well as coffee and I wish I has seen this article as my aligners are now stained but only another 2 weeks until my new aligners arrive and then only plain cold water for me as Dr Patel has advised.

This is nonsense Ive been drinking Ribena with my Invisalign aligners in and they are fine. I agree that we shouldn’t be drinking hot tea or coffee as that will melt the plastic and damage the aligners but I’ve had no problems with Ribena so far!

hi i’ve heard that you can get decay from wearing braces. Is this true? and if so is it more common with wire braces or invisalign? I want to keep my teeth in the best of health whilst receiving treatment, so are there any suggestion you can give for caring for my teeth? thank you for your time

Tucker Says :

Hi there! Decay will occur if you are not cleaning your teeth properly and you have a poor diet whether you wear braces or not! Because the Invisalign aligners are removable, you can brush and floss as normal. Hope that helps!

hello I really like the idea of invisalign as it does look incredibly discreet. I just wanted to know, are the aligners easily stained? Obv keeping them clean and see through makes them more discreet, so what would you recommend for keeping my aligners very clean? Should I always take them out when im eating for example? thank you

Jaelyn Says :

you should always take the aligners out for eating and drinking as otherwise you can distort them and damage them. You can use a special cleaner called RetainerBrite to keep them clean and fresh.

I am looking at the different products available to straigthen my teeth and weighing up the pros and cons. Is there a chance that Invidalign would help me lose weight whilst straigtening my teeth? is this something that you have seen in any of your patients or heard about? any information you could give would be great

My daughter has invisalign braces and recently was arrested for a DUI. Is it possible that her Breath Alcohol test could have been skewed by the fact that she DID drink with the braces on and they either absorbed the alcohol or it remained in the crevices?

Max Says :

Hi I’m afraid drinking with the aligners / braces on wouldn’t have skewed her breath alcohol test.

Could you please tell me if 6 months smiles braces stain after the first month? Friends who have had fixed braces say this often happens and than not only do the braces stain, but the teeth underneath are strained. Is this true? If so is there anyway or preventing it from happening? thank you

Xander Says :

All braces have a tendency to stain after a few months. Usually when the braces come off the stain is easily removed with a dental cleaning. The most important thing when wearing braces is meticulous hygiene. Don’t let stain stop you from improving your teeth. Just keep them very clean while they are on

are you more likely to catch gum disease when you are wearing invisalign braces? i have definitely seen an increase in the how much my gums are bleeding since startin with invisalign and am beginning to get worried. What do you both think?

Alondra Says :

Invisalign is considered a very hygienic way to straighten your teeth as you have the advantage of being able to remove your aligners completely in order to access and clean your teeth properly. As a result, correct brushing, mouthwashing and most importantly flossing is all still achievable throughout Invisalign treatment. Seek advice as soon as possible from your Invisalign Doctor if you have any further concerns.

Are you able to drink coffee while wearing your aligners?? Once cooled down, I have read mixed reviews so unsure. Also as an expert what would you recomend and consider to be the most effective treatment for correcting a crossbite, I am 30 years old looking to get married soon what are your recomendations. Thankyou

Dear Sir/Madam, You can drink anything with Invisalign. All you have to do is prevent germs building up as they are the source of stains. CRossbite takes time to treat. It is usually not that the dental jaw has collpased, but that the teeth have tilted inwards. Invisalign can push these teeth back to near their original position. I like that word Expert.

I have had a consultation for Invisalign, and the practioner stated that as part of the programme certain parts of the teeth would need to be filed slightly in order to move my teeth, would this result in any problems etc, increased sensitivity. If you could let me know please, thank you.

Hi This is not uncommon if the teeth are quite crowded and finding space to align them is difficult by other means (such as moving them outwards). It is known as interproximal reduction and Invisalign restrict it to 0.5mm between any two teeth, so is just into enamel. I’d recommend a fluoride paste or gel after and if you’re teeth aren’t sensitive before, this won’t cause any increased sensitivity or long term problems. Good luck

Following on from the Q&A re: tea and coffee causing damage to the aligners, can I please clarify that I have understood correctly: While wearing the aligners, the ONLY drink you would advise having is plain water? If we wish to have tea, coffee or any other drinks, we would have to remove the aligners then replace them after finishing the drink? (Good way to cut my caffeine consumption, if that’s the case!) Thanks.
