Can veneers help me hide the gaps between teeth?

Q. I am 41 and have had fixed braces for nearly 2 years after having had 4 teeth removed. My lower jaw is fine but I have been told that I will be left with gaps on my upper jaw behind my canines due to the size and shape of my teeth. Is this normal? It has been suggested that I now have 4 veneers to hide the gaps, is there any other alternative? Will the veneers stop my teeth from moving?

A. The veneers would be a quick way of reducing the size of the gaps instead of the brace which can often take 1-2 years to close the gaps sufficiently. They don’t stop the teeth moving so a new retainer would be needed after they are fitted
