Can my dentist pull all my teeth out i have dental phobia?

Q. I have very advanced periodental disease however, I have a severe dental phobia and would like once and for all just to have all my teeth pulled out but my dentist won’t do it. Is he allowed to make that judgement?

A. Yes your dentist is allowed to make that judgement. He is in charge of making the decision that is best for your oral health. No dentist is made to carry out any treatment that they do not feel comfortable with.

If all of your teeth were extrated then you would have no way of eating apart from if you were to wear a denture.

Dentures are very uncomfortable and some people never get used to wearing them. Your dentist has your best interst at heart when refusing to extrat all of your teeth.

I have to comment the patient with advanced periodontal desease and the annswer.
I was in the same position and my dentist tried to cope with it and rinsed and did some surgery. It was difficult to cope with it and the desease seemed to be growing. I asked her about having all teeth pulled and get dentures and she said thatis an alternative as going around with this is not good for general health and expensive.
We agreed on full mouth extractions andfitting of dentures. Now a year after full dentures I really ask myself why did I not do this much earlier. My dentist also told me that it is important to have the teeth pulled before thereis no bone to carry dentures.
Why do dentists say that dentures are uncomfortable when they are absolutely acceptable and a very very good substitute for bad teeth and periodontal desease.
I can eat what I want and can eat what I want and have few limitations. I can talk good and look good and feel very good now and have got energy which I did not have before.
Getting dentures is of course a big step and if dentists really could tell the patients the really facts instead of frightening them it would be good.
Dentists can by looking at a patients mouth and bone tell what problems there most probably will be due to shape of plate and amount of bone left. What they cannot pedict is how dentures will feel. If they told that the first weeks they will feel very bulky and after a while you even forget about them. They are not as normal teeth of course and will in some cases feel slightly loose but nobody will see that. They have to be changed every 5-7 years and we have to have a checkup regularly 1-2 years to be sure the fit is good. If doing that dentures will be a good substitute.
Biting force is reduced but when the gums are healed no practical problems.
I am a very happy denture wearer!!!!!
