Can I replace missing teeth with a bridge or are there other options?

Q.
Hello,

I am having major problems with my teeth at the moment, i am currently with an nhs dentist at the local hospital, i have been seeing a dentist regularly for 10 yrs, over the last 2 years my teeth has severely deteriorated, due to osteoporosis and parathyroid which is draining my bones of calcium, i am a 43 yr old woman , the problem seems that my teeth are rotting and the gums are receding, all my dentist seems to do is remove teeth, i now have 6 gaps, 4 at the front, and i plate with 2 teeth on, all this is making me feel very down and he is planning on removing more, i don’t pay for treatment at the moment, but could you please advise me on what options i have, and is it possible to be fitted with a bridge, thank you very much in advance

A.
A bridge is possible if you have teeth either side of a gap, so a fixed unit can be placed. The supporting teeth need to be healthy with goodbone support so the bridge has a long term chance of success.
If you do not ave good supporting teeth, implants are a very good option to restore spaces.
In all cases of restorative work, your oral hygiene has to be excellent, otherwise the chances of success are compromised.
