Can I have an Inman Aligner to straighten both adult and baby-type teeth?

Q.
Dear Dr Moore,

I was just wondering if treatments like the Inman Aligner are applicable when you’ve still got baby teeth? I had a small operation a few years ago to remove an adult canine which never came through; consequently I’ve still got the original baby tooth sat in its place. I’m assuming I’d have to have that removed but do you think they would they be able to close the gap or put in a bridge or something?

Thanks in advance.

A.
It might be a combination approach of a brace (usually fixed) and an implant or bridge to replace the baby tooth would be your best option. The Inman aligner is generally only used to straighten front teeth, its not so good at closing down spaces.

I would advise you to go see a Cosmetic Invisalign Dentist for a consultation. Most of them do inman aligners aswell.

I’m interested in the Inman Aligner. However I have a missing front tooth which has been covered by a bridge for the past twelve years. This is not discoloured and I am considering replacing this with an implant. Would it be best to have the implant prior to the inman aligner?

i was wondering if you could help me. I am 18 and currently in full time education and so I am trying to ask my NHS dentist to allow me to have veneers or other dental treatment to improve my very low self esteem, but also because i have very weak teeth an no enamel. The problem is, i’ve been told they are unlikely to this and i cannot live any longer feeling the wayI do about my teeth, and so if i have to I am willing to get a full time job to pay for private care. Could you tell me how much i would be expected to pay on average, if i want 4 metal fillings changed to white ones/capped,and then veneers on 8 of my front teeth and an out of line tooth fixed. I know its difficult as you cant see my teeth…but i am not nieve to think the nhs would give me free care because of pyshcological reasons so i need tomake a plan B. Thanks for any help.

Hello, I am interested in the Inman Aligner treatment, as the front four teeth on my top arch became crooked again after having a fixed brace during my teenage years. My worry, however, is that my two front teeth are overlapping each other, therefore I’d like to know if the Inman Aligner is suitable for overlapping teeth? If the Inman Aligner could work for me, I’d be very interested in the treatment. Do you charge for initial consultations? Best,

About a year ago we completed the treatment. When I originally started treatment I thought I would have a permanent brace fitted to the back of my teeth upon completion. This was the original plan but for some reason the brace wasnt able to fit. I still dont understand why this was, but the problem I have now is that the night brace that my dentist gave me is starting to break and split already. I was wonderingwhat the procedure is for replacements? I also get headaches somedays where the teeth are moving slightly during the day. Ideally I would like a permanent retainer fitted on the back of my teeth like the original plan. I hope someone could get in touch with me today to inform me of what I need to do. Many thanks.

I am considering having the Inman Aligner fitted due to crooked, overcrowded front teeth. I would be obliged if you would confirm whether vat is included in the guide price quoted together with any other fees or expenses youcharge as I am comparing the overall cost with a local dentist who I have already seen and been assessed by. The costs seem to vary enormously and areobviously a deciding factor in where I go for the treatment. Thank you.

No- as long as perio is ok- any age can be treated. Also missing molars not a problem- these can be replaced with acrylic blocks and cribs anchor off the premolars tif

hi i see that you are very experienced expert in the use of Inman aligner and just wondered if you’ve ever treated very severe buck teeth with the aligner? If the case is that they actually are huge after having them straightened would it be possible to have them filed down as well? Many practices do offer payment plans, some even interest free- It is not something Inman Aligner will arrange for you but you can simply ask any certified practice and most will offer it

Is the Inman aligner suitable for my fourteen year old daughter? I have seen that this website states that it is for adults only, but she has all of her second teeth and has done for over a year now. She is looking for a quick treatment as she does not want ordinary braces. She thinks she has had a couple of her friends who have had this treatment many thanks in advance

Kai Says :

hello there I would say it can be but only if your daughters back teeth are already set very well (we call it class1) and if she has had an assessment from a specialist orthodontist who has ruled out fixed ortho as being necessary to correct her bite. If it is only very mild crowding of the front teeth then it can be treated. I cannot be used as a quick fix if the back teeth are not correct already- Hope this helps

hi does the inman aligner do anything for movement caused by tongue thrusting? my teeth kind of stick forward and it is really affecting my self esteem.I would like to have them straightened but i don’t really know what to do about the tongue thrusting. Is there a mouthguard or anything that i can wear during my sleep to stop the damage from returning. I really, really want to have a beautiful smile for once, but obvisously don’t want to loose it once i’ve finally achieved it. thank you very much

November 11th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Braxton Says :

The Inman can correct flared teeth from tongue thrusting and you wear a retainer afterwards that won’t allow your tongue to cause problems again. The best solution is to retrain your tongue through the use of a training appliance or myotherapy.

hello what is your thought on the inman aligner for straighten out bottom teeth as well as top teeth? Is this achieavble or am i properly better off looking for treatment with a different type of brace, like a fixed brace? I don’t have a lot of money, so really i am looking for the cheapest option and i am ok with the look of my top teeth but my bottom teeth are very crowded and you can see them when i talk or eat and it is only going to get worse i think can you help me? thank you

March 7th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Alysa Says :

The Inman Aligner is for Mild to Moderate crowding of the front 4 teeth of the upper and lower arch. If your situation is moderate to severe braces are most likely your only option.

Hello would i be right in thinking that the inman aligner is one of the faster type of remoavble braces? Im a bit torn between the inman aligner and the metal braces, just because metal braces have been used for so long and seem to be more power than other removable braces, but seeing as the inman aligner treats both side of the teeth it may be a good idea to habe that maybe? I have a large gap at the front of my mouth i would like closed, do you think the inman aligner could do this just as well as other braces that are fixed to the teeth? thank you

Can I have my teeth straightened with the inman aligner, even though i have 3 crowns? I need the front of my teeth straightened no where else and the crowns are at the back of my mouth, but there are they because of some decay and root canal work I needed to have done. Therefore I wouldn;t really need to move them with the brace, only the front teeth, so do you think this would be possible with the inman aligner? if not which brace would you say would be the best to use for my situation? thanks very much for your time

I visited a dental practice in my local area of Manchester because I wanted to get braces for my crooked teeth. I was originally hoping to get six month smile braces because I like the idea of getting treatment done really fast. But I was told I would not be suitable for this. I then went away and thought about it for a while and after doing research think I might be okay for the inman aligner. Or if I am not suitable for the sixer braces does this mean it is a no go with inman? I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice.

April 16th, 2012 at 08:47 PM

6 Month Braces can do much more than Inman Aligners so if you are not suitable for 6 Month the Inman could not help you.
