Can i find an NHS dentist for acid errosion

Q. Hi. I have a problem with the condition of my teeth and am not sure what type of treatment would be right for me. I have begun to get acid erosion on my teeth and have had to have a filling to fill 2 chips that appeared on my two front teeth. Apparently the erosion is caused by eating too much citrus fruit as i rarely drink sugary drinks etc. My two front teeth appear to be disintegrating and have gone from being lovely and straight to curved and a bit jagged. They also are a bit discoloured. This is really affecting my confidence now and i spend most of my time worrying and thinking about the state of my teeth and how they could end up. i was thinking about veneers but not sure i can afford it or if i want my original teeth to be filed down to toothpicks! I am an NHS patient – will this help with the cost of sorting my teeth out? Thanks for your advice.

A. It does sound as though veneers would be the best option for you but you may find it difficult ot find an NHS dentist who is in the position to carry out this treatment of you.

Hi,
My teeth are in a really bad condition, they are severley worn due to acid erosion. There is hardly any of the front ones and the back are either missing or not much there. I am experiencing alot of pain and have to limit what I eat. I have kidney failure and have been constantly vomiting over the past 4 years.
I have recently had a kidney transplant, the vomiting has stopped and I am now in a position to get my teeth fixed. I have been to a few consultations, the first said I need crowns and root canal and second said I would need implants as my bite would not be right with just crowns alone.
I was willing to pay £8000 for 20 crowns but could not afford the 20000 for implants and crowns. Would I be a suitable candidate to get implants on nhs as the acid erosion was caused by illness?
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello Can veneers be used as a permanant solution for my teeth eroded by over zealous brushing and too much friut acid in my diiet, also by unconciously by grinding the teeth? The appearance is of green teeth and the top edges are chipping away due to weakness. If so what are the options for my problems? Please provide details of the procedure and likely cost?

Yes veneers may be the solution to your problems. Costs vary depending on the complexity of the case and the type of veneers used. The size of the rebuild and the difficulty of reconstructing your bite will also be important factors as well as the skill and experience of the dentist, the laboratory technician and the quality of the aesthetic result you want to achieve. As a rough guide veneers will be from £450-1000 per tooth
