Broke molar tooth but no pain

Q. hiya doc..l broke my molar while munching away xmas dinner..the problem is l was expecting a big time ache but still havent experience any yet and have just found out dental works are quite dear.any advice doc,
A. You need to see a dentist to have the tooth X-rayed .  You will then be able to decide whether the tooth is worth saving

I have broken a molar, with just the roots in place. This happen whilst abroad, a dentist has given the opption to crown or remove the tooth. I’m not sure which I should choose. I assume posts would have to be fitted into the roots. Please may I have your oppinion.,

the exact configuration of the remaining tooth and the quality of the root filling are critical. We are able to salvage many teeth that are described in similar terms. However some teeth are not suitable and should be extracted. This decision can only be made after Xrays, a clinical exam and probably actually doing some preparatory work on the tooth
