Are there surgical alternatives to wearing a holding brace?

Q.
I have just turned 18 and have been through the first stage of my treatment at my orthodontists. It was a twin block brace, which was in for 14 months and corrected my overbite. I was happy to get out, unfortunately I didnt realise I would have a wear a holding brace with a big plastic block which covers the roof of my mouth and hangs below my front teeth. This brace will then be fitted with a fixed brace to straighten them while maintaining my gums position. I find this brace incredibly intrusive and I would like to know if this treatment is completely necessary. If theres any surgery that can be done and what are the expenses if so.

Its probably worth persevering with the brace treatment, any surgery will also need extensive brace treatment and retainers as well so I’m not sure if you’ll be gaining anything by opting for surgery

Only if they are heavily restored and even then it is unlikely unless there is an underlying problem with the tooth
