Are there options to make veneered teeth look even?

Q.
Hello! I was just wondering- my front two teeth are veneered due to an accident. I have noticed that my left front tooth has a low gumline, and the right is about 4mm higher. I understand this was probably the case before the veneers but its really bothering me! Also, the veneer on the right is more ‘built forward’ if that makes sense than the left. I know this is not the greatest problem in the world but I am getting married next year and its bothering me and makes me feel self concious. I hate the thought of the photos! Are there any options avilable to make them more even? Thank you

Hi and thanks for your questions.

It sounds like the angles of your teeth underneath the veneers are different? Is that correct? If it is the case then very often the gum line looks lower on the tooth that’s leaning ‘backwards’. If your lip rises up and shows this when you smile (this is called a high smile ‘line’) it can look unattractive.

An analysis of the gum contour and position forms part of every cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry examination.

It can be changed in several ways:

Corrective gum surgery – a gum ‘lift’. Also called crown lengthening and this is usually carried out on the lower gum position. Sometime is the correction is small this can be done with a laser. Sometimes we need to do more invasive surgery

Orthodontic movement- By repositioning the tooth into the correct position or angulation, the gum, quite often, finds itself in a better position or the correct place.

A combination of both the above

The answers to your questions would come following a detailed examination and consultation so come and visit or make an appointment to see one of the great cosmetic dentists on the site

Hope the answers help?
