Can Invisalign be used to move my teeth back into position?
Q.
Hi,
Hi,
I need to know if I qualify for the invisalign braces. Due to a missing tooth on my lower right jaw, a couple of teeth moved back. I was told that I need braces and possibly an implant to replace missing tooth. How much will it cost? Do I qualify? Thanks
A.
You would need a consultation and assessment before we could say you were suitable for Invisalign or not, but I have successfully treated many cases with Invisalign where teeth are missing. Average treatment costs for Invisalign to close spaces after tooth loss are about £3000-£4000 but can be cheaper if you present us with an easier case

Hello. can Invisalign invisible braces be used on the back teeth??
hi, MY MESSAGE IS A BIT LONG, SO YOU CAN YOU PLEASE READ IT AS I REALLY NEED YOUR ADVISE. i just wanted to require that can the invisalign procedure work for all tyeps of teeth. i had recently had my teeth assesd as i want tostraighten my teeth. the dentistry i went to doesnt provide the invisalignporcedure, but they there was another company which is called “Clear Step”, that provides a simialr thing. After I had my teeth assed, they said that i could do the Clear step procedure, but it will take about 4 years forthe whole treatment, so they said the better option for you is ceramic braces as it will take quicker, but im more interested in the more dicreet braces. so i was wondering will the invisalign braces take as long.
Hi, I had fixed braces as a child but my bottom teeth have since shifted. My four central bottom teeth are now crooked. I’m considering getting a brace in the future to fix this and wanted to know the approximate costs. I understand that the prices can vary in each circumstance but I would like a price range for your 6 Month Smiles. It may be worth adding that I’m now 24.Many Thanks,
My situation is that I have ceramic braceswhich I have been wearing since January this year. Although I am happy with the treatment I am receiving I am extremely unhappy at the unavailabilityof my orthodontist as he now only works one day a month and there are frequent further delays due to holiday/illness. The situation is clearly not ideal but is taking a patient on midway through treatment something a dentist wouldconsider and if so what sort of cost implications would I be looking at? Ilook forward to your response.
Hi I’m looking for estimates for Invisalign treatment. I have been advisedthat I need only the top arch treated and it should take approximately 10months if I wear it regularly. I should appreciate it if you would let me have an approximate cost for this treatment. Many thanks
I have been to my dentist and they have told me about the invisalign .however all i need is braces on my bottom teeth only ,I have heard of ceramic brace still has wires but the braces are clear i think this will be better than the silver metal brace. I want to know how much it would cost
Hi! I’m looking at having Invisalign braces to straighten my top and bottomteeth. At a recent consultation I was advised that I have moderate overcrowding – my bottom teeth would take around 9 months to straighten and my top9-12 months, plus an extra few months to realign my top teeth (my centre line is not central after I had a canine tooth removed as a child). So totaltreatment time should be up to 18 months. Based on this information wouldit be possible to provide me with a quotation? Many thanks.
I just started 6 month smile treatmenton Monday. I am having quite a bit of difficulty adjusting to the treatment, (I’m aware it can take some time to adjust, but I think that he amount of diffculty I am having is disproportionate) it is causing me quite a bit of pain and I am struggling to eat, sleep etc. On reflection (and I realiseI should have thought about this prior to starting treatment, unfortunatelyit all happened a bit quick!) I think that the Invisalign system (or similar) would be more beneficial to my circumstances and lifestyle, as I have to do a lot of public speaking in my job and the braces I had fitted on Monday are making this difficult, if not impossible. Therefore, I am wonderingif it is possible to change my course of treatment. I understand I would need to consider the costs of such a change, removing current braces/fittinginvisalign etc which is fine, I would rather do this than continue with mycurrent treatment if at all possible. Either way I could really do with some advice,
Hello, I am 20 years old and very interested in sorting my teeth with Invisalign. I had braces before when I was younger but they have not worked to my satisfactory. My bottom teeth are quite crowded or out of shape, and I have an overlap at my top two front teeth which I would love sorted. I am interested in the costs for this treatment so if anyone could get in touch with some answers or information I would grately appreciate it. Thankyou
Hi, I am interested in the 6month braces or invisaline. I have never worn braces but have quite a narrow palette and slightly uneven teeth. I broke afront tooth when I was younger and had a crown put in some years ago. Doesthis have any effect on having braces fitted? Also, I see on your website invisalign is available from about 2000 euro. Could you give me some idea asto the cost of 6 month braces? I am working part time at the moment and amconcerned about total costs. I would really appreciate some feedback. Manythanks.
I am very keen in getting the invisalign treatment done. I am 40 years oldand my teeth are very yellow with strips on them. Also they have a gap in the middle and at the bottom some of them are crossing over. How much does this cost and how long does it take. I would like to get it done sooner rather than later.
I need a brace. I have upper/lower crowding and my upper central incisors have crossed over and been pushed fed on the eruption of my third molars. Ihave suffered with bulimia and have palatal erosion of most teeth- at 30 years old I’d like to sort them out please help
My son has seen an orthodontist and will need braces on his upper teeth tocorrect a very twisted canine + a slightly overlapping front tooth. We havebeen told that the fixed brace will need to stay on for 9 months to a yearfollowed by 2 1/2 years of wire retainers + night time retainers. As we would prefer not to wait 18 months for an NHS appointment, I would like to hear what the cost of this work would be, if done at your clinic. I look forward to hearing from you.
Hi, I am extremely interested in invisalign as my teeth have moved since mywisdom teeth came down. Can you advice how to go about and the costs i.e.consultation times and related prices. Many thanks in advance,
Hello, i have recently had a dental implant with a crown put into my upper jaw which has been there for about 5 months and i feel it is very settled, would you feel that it is safe for me to start the invisalign treatment pretty soon? My implant does feel very secure but I thought i’d check to see if the two procedures are compatible. thanks doctor
It should be fine make sure dentist designs your treatment so there are no forces put on the the implant.
Hi, I had a brace plate in my teens and it was decided not to give me the wire braces (I needed upper and lower) as the plate was causing considerably ear aches. My dentist said my jaw wasn’t aligned properly. This hasn’t caused me many problems, but I do have a gap in my front top teeth (left front tooth is twisted). It is on the move and gets painful. My question is would Invisalign be likely to cause the same problems, and would it stop this tooth moving? Oh and on a financial note do you know of any payment plans for this treatment? Thanks for your time.
Hello Doctor, I am looking into getting invisalign for a few crooked teeth on my top jaw and wanted to know how long you suspect the treatment to take. It is only a mild orthdontic problem nothing major, what is the quickest and then longest treatment time of a patient with invisalign? I ask specifically because I have a special event fast approaching in 2.5 months and I would really like to have a good smile for it. any estimates and advice you give would be greatly appreciated. thanks
It is very unlikely your teeth will be straight in 10 weeks, it takes about 6 weeks to diagnose, plan and manufacture your aligners.
Could you tell me how much i should expect to pay for lingual braces in London? What is the average price as it seems to differ from place to place? Could you also tell me who are the orthodentists & provide their surgery addresses who could carry out this treatment please as I have read that there are few that are able to carry out this treatment? Finally, is the lingual brace able to push the teeth out and widen the smile as a buccal fixed brace would do? Many thanks in advance Regards
I’m not really an expert on Lingual braces so can’t give you any precise details. I would look online for someone doing lots of these cases a year and expect to pay £2000 +per jaw
Hi, i was searching aroung and i came upon this website which happens to talk about Invisalign Express. I live in Homestead Fl and i wanted to know if there is a close office where i can get it. If not where is the closest office?
Go to the Invisalign website. Search under the state of Florida, Miami area. You should be able to locate someone there.
I am right now residing in US. I may be going to back to India in about 4-6 months time. Is it possible for me start the treatment here in US, continue in India? or viceversa?
the trouble is that you are asking 2 dentists to take responsibilty for the treatment and they will want 70-100% fees. In India the experience is limited and if you get a US visiting dentist, then you will be paying again. So difficult question with the only answer being to locate 2 dentists to agree on fees
Can u use your last invisalin as a retainer?
Hi I wouldn’t recommend this long term – more a ‘holding retainer’ until your definitive retainers or refinement aligners are made. I would recommend either a fixed retainer, Invisalign Vivera retainers or a combination of the two.
hello i have been wearing my 2nd aligner for almost two weeks now and the brace still feels tight. This was not the case with the first aligner, which began to loosen as the week went on. Im worried that the second aligner hasnt done it job and therefore the next aligner won’t fit properly. What do you suggest, should I continue wearing the 2nd aligner until it is looser, or move onto the next aligner? thank you for your time
Hi, if you have been wearing your second aligner as prescribed ie 21-22 hours per day then it will be OK to move up to the next aligner. If this still feels tight after a further 2 weeks then I recommend you see you dentist for a review appointment. Good luck
hi there, I have started my second set of aligners and it feels like there are loose already, but only on one side of my mouth, could you please tell me if that is anything to worry about and what I should do about it if it is. I don’t want to hinder my treatment, but obv if i need to wait for the next aligner, i will be ok wth that. However, if it is a manufacturing error, will i be expected to foot the bill for the new aligner, or should i expect my dentist to? thank you
Hi, I am sure you can appreciate that this question is extremely difficult for me to answer without assessing you clinically. I would simply recommend that you take this up with your Invisalign provider sooner rather than later. I am sure your clinician will be able to identify if there is any form of problem and deal with it accordingly. Best wishes
Hi I am doing Invisalign at the moment (my second orthodontic course) and I have been advised I should get a bonded retainer when I finish. Could you tell me which type you would use and also what are the issues for oral hygiene? is it hard to maintain them? many thanks
I personally have a fixed retainer which has not needed any maintenance for 15 years now. You can brush it as normal and you can use tepe brushes to clean in between the teeth.
Hope that helps
hello i am looking into getting invisalign for both my top and bottom teeth, which are really crowded. Will i have to have teeth removed for this kind of treatment? My regular dentist tells me that I will, but I just wanted to get a second opinion to make sure. thanks for your time
Thanks for asking. In my experience and depending on the dentist, yoyu can avoid extractions but the uppers will need to be done
Hi i am thinking about getting Invisalign, I have been reading up on them on the internet, a lot of people mention attachments but I can’t seem to find out what these are, could you tell me? thanks
they are small tooth coloured build ups placed on some teeth to increase the force of the aligners to allow more difficult movement
Hi, I have just started having refinements for inivsaling because one of my teeth has begun clashing with another one, it is really painful and the refienment does not seem to be improving it so far. How many refienments do i get before i start paying? I will go crazy if I have to shell out money because with the way this tooth is at the moment there is now way I could leave it as it is.
sometimes these stubborn teeth may need 2 refinements. You normally get 3 free refinements depending on what type of invisalign that you had
Hi doc I have already had fixed braces when i was in college. Now the doc says that i have trauma from occlusion and as a result my lower tooth (one of them) is hitting on to the upper two teeth. The doc has asked me to do braces all over . But i wanted to know whether invisalign can correct this for me.
I am sure Invisalign can but i would need to see you to give you the best options.
I have been wearing my invisalign for the last 4 months and I have definitely noticed a change. However, my dentist is now telling me that i will need some refinements, can you tell me how much this will cost and how long it usually takes added on to normal treatment. thanks
Hi, Refinements are required in the majority of invisalign cases. Up to three batches of refinements are included in your invisalign treatment unless you are having invisalign lite. Refinement aligners are like the fine tuning of your teeth alignment and allow for fantastic results. Unfortunately without seeing you I am unable to suggest how long it will take, your dentist will be able to answer this question for you. Good luck
I had my braces (metal off) about six months ago after two long years. Thing is i have been lazy with my retainers and then I went to put them on the other day and they don’t fit any more. I think my teeth have moved back. Do you think I need braces again?? If I did would Invisalign be suitable? finally is ther nay sort of new retainer that I could wear to get myself back into the right position? thanks
It is difficult to say whether you will need braces or just a couple of aligners to correct the relapse. I would recommend you go for a consultation to see what is required. Please remember retainers should be used long term as teeth will otherwise move back.
what am i to do when i go on holiday when i have my invisalign brace? I am going away for the next three weeks, shall i ask for a the next 6 aligners to take with me? will there be any problem with that? or should I just keep my teeth at the stage they are at now? thank you
My advice would be is to wear one aligner for 3 weeks and enjoy your holiday. The aligner will be more out than in.
I had invisalign and then was given a removable retainer, but i feel that the retainer is moving my teeth into a crooked position again. I have had them for 3 months and i really do think that my front two teeth have moved during this time. Will my dentist be able to tell and if it is the fault of the retainer can i have treatment and i new retainer for free? thank you for any help you can give me
I would recommend you go to your invisalign dentist for assessment and to find out why your teeth are moving.
my wisdom teeth are coming through at the moment and im having my invisalign treatment! do you think they will affect the movement of the rest of my teeth and if they are do you think i could just have them taken out to stop them spoiling all of the work that has already been done. I really don’t want to loose my new smile, now that i have finally got it! thank you
Hello, At the end of your Invisalign treatment you will be provided with retainers to protect and stabalise the smile and tooth position that you have achieved. If the wisdom teeth are starting to cause problems then they can usually be removed before they cause any problems with the rest of your smile. Best wishes
hello is it a good idea to continue with invisalign treatment when you’ve recently damaged your tooth? I fell and chipped the bottom of my top tooth and i am just worried that the pressure of the invisalign braces may be too mcuh for my damaged tooth to take. I am to see my dentist next week, but just wanted a second opinion from an Invisalign expert thank you
it depends on the severity of the trauma. I would recommend you see your dentist for an assessment.
hi there can you use invisalign for the top and bottom teeth and is it a good treatmetn for jaws that jutt forward on the bottom? or will i be better seeking other treatment? thank you
Jaw movement correction is very difficult to predict Invisalign moves teeth, you may need to look at other treatment options including surgical options if your jaw is a problem.
hi I’ve started to experience some discomfort with my aligner. I’ve just finished my second set and am now on my third and it just feels very tight and i have cut my gums more than once getting the braces on. I guess i could wait until my next set of aligners, but i just wanted to ask an expert incase this isn’t a normal occurence and that i should go and get the aligners changed straight away. What do you thinK? thank you
sometimes you can get some discomfort when changing to a new set of aligners. If the discomfort does not subside, you may want to contact your Invisalign dentist
I have been advised to get Invisalign but I am worrying if there is any point. I would like to get my teeth fixed, but my main caveat is that I would like them done quickly. I am not bothered if people can seem my braces or whatever. Would Invisalign work as quickly as normal braces? Or should I just get metal braces and get the dentist to crank them up to eleven?
hi, treatment duration depends on the severity of the crowding/spacing and on the appliance. In some mild cases invisalign can work really quickly while in others, it can take much longer. I would recommend a consultation with a dentist that provides many forms of teeth straightening to explore all your options
hope you are well I have recently started my invisalign treatment and it has been going well apart from the fact that I have recurring ulcers. They are mainly on my bottom jaw and go quite quickly but i am just worried that it my be an indication of something more serious like gum disease. I have very recently had a check up, when i got my braces and nothing was found then, so do oyu think I have anything to worry about? thank you very much for your time
No i think you will be fine. The ulcers are likely a result of the invisalign material. Make sure you make your dentist aware of it.
hello i am thinking about getting the invisalign brace but i have injured by teeth a while back and they sometimes feel a little sensitive and one is wobbly, what would you suggest I do? should i get other treatment before i go for the braces to ensure that my teeth are safe? any advice would be great as i really, really would like straight teeth for once and now have the money to pay for them thanks
You need your teeth assesed first it does not mean you cant have invisalign but you may need other treatment before or afterwards.
I am on the home straight with my Invisalign (thank the lord) and I was wondering what the istuation with retainers is? I know it is something I should discuss with my dentist, is there a particular type that you would recommened and how long should I wear them for?
it depends on how your teeth have been moved and discuss the options. Fixed and removable retainers I often give my patients both.
I have a few questions to ask you: – I’m from Thailand and going to UK to study next year. I already have braces and my dentist said that it will take another to complete my treatment. Is it possible for me to continue my treatment in UK or should I stop my treatment here and then start it over again in UK? – If I can continue my treatment in UK, what will be the cost for that? And will the payment be paid in instalment or at once? Thank you.
Hi it is possible to continue treatment but it depends on the practice you go to. SOme dentists will take on treatments started by other dentists, some won’t. The cost will depend on what stage of treatment you are at and what brace system you are wearing.
I’ve had invisalign for almost 3 yrs as teeth slightly shifted after not always wearing my retainers from having braces when I was younger. I’m on my last refinement, not only is this process long and expensive, but I found the results a mile off what was advertised to me. My teeth remain unstraight, gaps not fully closed and gaps appearing from over-filing of teeth. What can I do and is there anyway I can get advice from invisalign themselves? My dentist isn’t very helpful
Hi I would try your dentist initially, voicing all your concerns. Failing that I would recommend you see a orthodontist or Invisalign dentist with considerable Invisalign experience through their website for a second opinion, where Invisalign themselves can also be contacted. Good luck
would like both my top and bottom teeth straightened, is this at all posssilbe with the invisalign braces? Or would it be too bulky have both in my mouth at the same time? I really want to change my smile as it is very crooked an unattractive and although i would prefer invisible braces such as invisalign i would settle for other braces if you thought that was a better option? thank you
Dear Enquirer, it would be difficult of me to tell you which system is best for you. Invisalign is routinely worn for upper and lower arches and are not bulky, especially compared to metal braces. Its never too late to change your smile.
hi there I have quite random shifts for the job I work and I know that with invisalign you have to go back every two weeks, i think. Do you think it will be possible for me to fit in the changing of the aligners within my schedule? I work at a bar and as you can probably guess my hours are rather here and there and at all times of day or night. Would it be possible to be given several sets of aligners at once? thank you
Hi Yes, although you change aligners every 2 weeks, we don’t need to see you every fortnight. Usually we ‘get you going’ and then review every 6-10 weeks, giving you the sets you need for that period, that you change every 2 weeks yourself
Is it possible to have invisalign even though i have had inmplants? I have two at the side of my mouth and at the front of my mouth, so in quite noticeable places! I would really like to just move my teeth a bit so they are a little straighter, it wouldn’t take much movement, just a bit of a tidy is all. What do you thnk doctor, will i still be suitable for treatment, even if I have implants?
Yes you can move other teeth around the implants. The implant teeth are unable to move
Dear Doctor, My front teeth are slightly longer and there is a space between two teeth. I want to get the size of my teeth reduced and cover the gap. A dentist told me it can be done with prosthetic crowns but i believe tooth reshaping and contouring can be enough in my case. Please suggest if I should go ahead with the procedure suggested by my dentist (prosthetic crown)? Also what will be the cost of tooth reshaping and contouring procedure in India?
My suggestion would be to have invisable braces to close a small gap and re contouring. If you are unsure, you could seek a second opinion.
