If I was to get veneers how would my teeth grinding when asleep affect them?

A. They can also damage veneers and I would recommend a night guard to protect your new veneers

Have you tried a hard bite raising appliance?
have been griding my teeth and clenching my jaw for at least the last three years.(Since my first child was born) I experience pain in my jaws, head and neck pretty much on a daily basis. I have a plastic mouth guard which I wear to help protect my teeth but I find it very uncomfortable. It seems to push my jaw into an unnatural position and tho I know my teeth are protected I do get aches from wearing the guard. I feel now that my bite seems to have changed and the shape of my face around my bottom lip and chin look well, ugly! Should I consider a different approach to helping with the grinding? I cant really eradicate the stresses from my life at present but need some advice about saving my teeth and my looks!! Many thanks
Hi There may well be a bite appliance that’s more comfortable for you so I’d check with a dentist experienced in bite problems and often us cosmetic dentists can help as we have experience with bite problems too
I am interested in having veneers or crowns. However I may grind my teeth would it still be possible to have veneers or crowns fitted. Thanks
I have 3 front teeth missing and need them replaced, I suffer from receeding gums, teeth grinding when asleep and i also smoke (trying to give up). Iwould like to find out what could be the best treatment for me! Thanks
Hello, my 7 year old son is grinding his teeth a fair bit at night. I don’t know if it’s stress, or if it’s because his bite is wrong – his upper and lower teeth do seem to ‘meet’. I am v concerned as his new teeth are just arriving and would like to know what treatment(s) you’d recommend to nip this one in the bud. He is starting to complain of tooth pain and I’m sleeping with him to stop him grinding. He’s not a v stressed boy, but it cd be stress. Best wishes
Hello, I’ve ground my teeth for a number of years and am now very conscious about my short front teeth. I wear a NTI night guard now but am wonderingif I can get my teeth lengthened with veneers? Approximately how much would this cost?
I have a experienced serious movement of my teeth after prolonged grindingwhich has shifted my smile alignment quite markedly. I am no longer happy to smile and find speech and eating is being affected. It is not immediatelyobvious to people but very obvious to me and in photos. i fear it may be too late and too set in but i would like to have a consultation with someoneto establish if anything can be done.
Hi, I have worn down enamel and early periodontitis. I would like to get veneers on my front four teeth as the enamel is patchy and they are sensitive, I was wondering if you have any more suggestions and price quotes? Thanks
i have a yellowline on each front tooth ,ive been told i need my enamel removing to get the stains off and then replace with new enamel at a cost ofC2A3500.ive been searching the internet but havent come across this procedure ,have you any idea if laser treatment would do the job with out takingoff the enamel .
Hi there, I have never really been bothered about my teeth until a couple of years ago when my girlfriend said that i was grinding my teeth at night in my sleep. Since then I have noticed my teeth move out of place to the point where they seem very crowded and not particularly good-looking. I am 21years of age and dont have a lot of money to spend as I am saving for a house but it has got to the point where i really would like to sort this problem out before it gets a lot worse. Can you provide me with a quote? I am very interested in the ‘6month smiles’ program – how effective would you rate this? Regards
Hi there I have a problem with grinding my teeth at night, which appears tobe down to an incorrect bite. Is this something you offer treatment for and, if so, how much would treatment cost? Many thanks,
Hello, i am in need of a full set of dentures and would like them to be held on with implants but i also tend to grind my teeth at night, would this be a problem when wearing dentures with implants? Is there anything that can be done if it is? Thank you
in a case like this it is important to have sufficient implants to support the denture. A nightguard may be required in certain circumstances.
I grind my teeth a lot in the night, can they be lengthened – if so , and i go ahead, would this make a difference in my smile? is this expensive procedure?
Its a very difficult procedure as all the teeth need to be treated and as a result is quite expensive. If done correctly though you will recreate a much improved appearance of the teeth.
is it true that dentists cant do anything else for you but dentures.i have tried them but they make me feel sick so cant wear them.i have always been terrified of dentists till i plucked up the courage last year because my teeth were really bad and was given dentures.i went back a few times but havent been since.i cannot wear them is there nothing else that can be done.could they not do veneers or something that gets screwed into my gum i really want my mouth to look nice and at the moment i am frightened to smile because people can see that i only have a few teeth.even my children say mum you would look nice wth teeth.please help.
hi I am a chronic teeth grinder and was just curious about the effects this would have if i was to get invisalign? Would my teeth grinding damage the aligner in anyway and would my teeth grinding make the treatment less effective? My orthodontic problems mainly effective the front of my mouth, with my two front teeth crossing over. Any info you could give would be great and thank you for reading
many people who grind their teeth wear invisalign the aligners only have to last 2 weeks so they should be fine.
I wonder does invisaligh or braces help jaw popping and grinding? If not what would help?
I am afraid that your primary treatment should be focusing around a stabilization splint probably. A full consultation will be necessary to determine which type of a removable splint will be beneficial for you.
Hi i have two sets of dentures ,can i have veneers fited,i am 65 years.I have had three sets in three years ,and i still dont like how they fit my gums, would like some advice please.Iused to have protruding top teeth, but they made them flat, my bottom ones are to me leaning back so makes biting verry difficult ,sometimes they come forward when biting.I am at my wits end and dont know what else to do apart from spending more money again on something i dont like.Grateful for advice.
You cannot have veneers fitted if you are wearing a full set of dentures. You may need to seek the services of an implant dentist who can stabilise your dentures using implants so that your dentures a re more comfortable. Regards
Int family can’t afford a good fitting mouth guard and I grind my teeth a lot and I want to know if it is possible for me to make a good fitting mouth guard that won’t fall out so I can wear it at night.I just really need something so I can stop this problem before it gets bigger. I would really appreciate advice on what to do. Please message me back with an answer and if it is possible to make one myself the materials I would need please and thank you.

I recently had two new venners fitted to my front teeth as my old ones were fifteen years old and they had a small chip on the bottom conner of one of them as i’m getting married soon i thought it would be ideal time to renew them i’m beging to really regret repalcing them ,my new venners have fallen off three times so far i’ve only had them on for five months i don’t understand why as i never had this problem with my old ones and i’m not doing anything differentely and i don’t grind my teeth in my sleep i’ve heard this causes problems
It sounds like it could be caused by your bite ( the way your teeth meet)
