Would Going Abroad Be The Right Choice For Me When Considering Dental Implants?
Hi I am 68 and my last remaining bridge has just come off due to the retaining teeth breaking up. I am missing teeth all around my mouth and now finding it difficult to bite and chew so I am currently looking to get a full set of implanted teeth. Access smile, Hungary and Polish smile, Poland are two dentists I am looking at. Do you have any comments about these companies and are there any recommendations you can make regarding other companies from abroad.

Hello. We strongly recommend that you do not consider having potentially complicated and surgical treatment overseas, unless you are planning on staying for extended periods. In my Harley Street practice we come across cases that have been poorly treated overseas, with implants and dental restorations failing prematurely or where complications have arisen due to difficult surgery.
Fixing the problems can then become even more costly or result in compromises, than if the work had been scheduled with competent and experienced surgeons at home.
I would never let any of my own family travel for ‘quick fix’ procedures such as this.
Then there is the question of who maintains and is responsible for your dentistry once it has been done? Most dentists would not be prepared to look after your treatment should it go wrong and of course the dentists who have provided your treatment have a duty of care to look after you. Would you fly overseas again every time you needed maintenance or had any issues? Thoroughly research anyone you consider helping you, no matter where they practice. It might appear cheaper to go to Eastern Europe but in the long run it may prove to be very much more costly and leave you dissatisfied with the result.
