What treatment and costs can fix my receeded gums?

Q.
Hello Dr Hughes,

I just have a question and need some advice. I have just been to a dentist as my gums have receeded pretty badly, the dentist told me i would need cosmetic surgery to build up the bone and gum again, can you advise me on any treatment to prevent it from getting any further and if there are any places where i could go to have it fixed but pay monthly instalments?

A.
Hello, thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately with receding gums, you cannot repair what has already receded, however, you can slow down the recession but brushing gently with a soft toothbrush or an electric toothbrush with a pressure sensor, flossing and visiting the hygienist regularly.

A lot of practices offer finance, both interest free and fixed interest finance. When you call the surgeries the reception team should be able to give you that information.
