What materials are used for making and attaching temporary veneers?

Q.
what material do you use for making temporary veneers and what do you stick them on with so as not to loose the fit surface for the real ones?
A.
Dear Enquirer, That’s a very good question. I use a resin material which looks very natural and comes in a few different shades so we can match against your adjacent teeth quite well.
The temporary veneers are temporarily bonded to the tooth surface with a special ‘glue’ which is specially formulated not to stick the temporaries too solidly to the underlying tooth. When I come to taking off the veneer, it can then be flicked off with a little pressure against the margin of the veneer or sometimes I score a line in the veneer very gently with the drill to enable me to get a leverage point to then loosen the veneer. This way, there is no change in the fit surface of the tooth and your veneers should fit like a glove.
I hope this helps,
Sunita
