What is the Procedure for Adjusting Dental Implants?
Q.
Hi Dr Hughes. I have a implant that I have had for 17 years, I had it placed when I was 16 to replace a missing tooth. I’m not happy with it, as the tooth begins much higher up then the rest of my teeth. This results in the tooth reaching to half way down the rest of my teeth, and it just looks really strange, almost as if I have a chipped tooth. It is making me really conscious about smiling as it is next to my front teeth and always on show. What would be the procedure to get this fixed? Could it even be fixed, and what would the cost be?

Hi, thank you for your question. Unfortunately it is impossible for me to give you a good answer without more information and clarification/diagnosis of the problem. In other words I would need to see x-rays and photographs as well as conducting a thorough examination of your mouth. I would suggest that you seek out a highly experienced cosmetic dentist in your area who has worked with dental implants. They will be able to give you a thorough assessment and help you from there. Best wishes, Mark.
