What can be done to make my smile bigger ? ….veneers or orthodontics

Q. Hi, My main concern with my smile is that my mouth seems very small and when i smile you cant see my teeth as my lips cover them. Is it possible to get a more prominent smile or a “bigger smile” so my teeth show more? Many thanks G.T.

A. Hi G, many thanks for your recent enquiry. There are a couple of ways you can “widen your smile” and show more teeth. The least invasive way would be to have orthodontics (braces) to widen your smile. This could take anything from 6 months to 2 years. The advantage would be that if you are happy with your shape of teeth this would just put them in a better position without the need to prepare the teeth (remove healthy tooth structure). The other option would be to have veneers to widen your smile. This would produce better shaped teeth and we could tailor the design of your smile to how you want it, you could also go whiter in colour with this method. The time frame would be quicker to produce the result you wanted – around 1 month but the only disadvantage would be your teeth would need to be prepared. Hope all this information is helpful.

I have straight teeth and a perfect bite, but an extremely narrow smile. I am 31yrs. old and would like to widen my smile. Is this possible at my age and what can be done? I am even willing to have surgery if it will help widen my teeth.

Hello i have been told that i need to have veneers to widen my smile. Is this really the best way to do it i have read on the forums that some people have braces to widen their smile. What would be the cost of having veneer to make my smile wider am i right in thinking that I would need at least 8 veneers?

I have the same exact problem. I have always wanted the smile that people had achieved with braces. Is there a mouthpiece to wear to push the lip forward and force a bigger/fuller smile?? I have done plenty of research for my smile. Veneers would be the totally wrong route to take if you want a fuller smile. Unless your teeth have big issues. I had my frunum cut (aka frenectomy). It’s the tiny string of skin in-between your front teeth that attaches to your lip. Now I have to figure out how to start moving my upper lip more.

Hi, I have a very ‘small mouth’ which gives my face an unusual look almoust as though i have no teeth. My chin and nose appear large. Especially my chin. My teeth themselves are in good condition though they look too small. Would there be a procedure that could correct this and give me a ”fuller” mouth. also i have a large over bite in the sense that my top teeth completely close over my lower teeth.

I have a very small mouth with small teeth. I had 8 veneers put on my top teeth that are bigger than my teeth. It did help so that you can see some teeth when I smile, but it did nothing with my actual smile. (& the veneers were 800 a tooth!) I feel like I am slightly more confident with my smile, but not sure it’s worth the 800 x 8 teeth. I personally would try a different route! I was curious if Botox on my cheeks would help relaxe the muscles around my mouth, because, part of my problem seems my mouth muscles are very tight, but, then again, maybe it’s just that my mouth is so little

I have a similar problem to most of the people above. Normally, i look good, i have had braces in the past, and my teeth are straight and in line, I have somewhat of an underbite altho and thats why I had the braces initially. Now I am 25 years old and I feel my upper mouth/teeth is to narrow and small. Also my upper lip skin/lip is too large or too long so I can barely see my teeth at all. When I smile I look much worse. Is it possible to get braces again that would widen my entire upper mouth pushing it out more and stretching the upper lip and cheek area? Or is there another route to go? thanks

Wow! I thought I was the only one with this issue. My situation is exactly like K.T. (The person who posted above). I have very nice teeth with a nice set arch. But my lips are full and my mouth narrow so I have to smile unnaturally in order to accomplish a smile that shows my teeth. What can I do to widen my smile and acheive one of those easy smiles that seem to appear so effortlessly?

I have a small mouth also. I have an overbite. It hurts to smile at times and the pics of me smiling look strained. The only time I have a nice smile is when I’m drunk or right after suffering a diabetic low where all my muscles are limp. My mouth always feels under stress and tight. I like everything about me, except my mouth! Yuuuck!
