How Can Botched Teeth Whitening Be Corrected?

Friday, February 13th, 2015
Q.

I have just used a Megawhite teeth whitening gel tray at home, and I am not happy with the results. My top teeth appear to now be two tone very white on the top half of my teeth but darker on the bottom which is unsightly and upsetting, Is this a common problem, and is there anything that can be done to correct this, or improve my now two tone teeth? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I’m Experiencing Pain From A Stronger Tooth Whitening Gel Than I’m Used Too, Could It Be Lasting Damage?

Monday, September 16th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I whitened my teeth yesterday evening using a 16% gel which I bought from my dentist. I usually use a 10% gel and a different brand and have never had any problems with sensitivity in the past. Following yesterday’s procedure which lasted only 40 minutes, I’m experiencing a great deal of ‘crackling/zinging’ type of pain in my teeth and I’ve been unable to sleep. It’s been just over 24 hours now with not much improvement in the pain and I’m just wondering if I may have caused permanent damage to my teeth? Is there anything I can do to alleviate the symptoms or will they go away on their own? Thanks.

Home teeth whitening kit has left my teeth blotchy. What could this be?

Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Q.

I recently purchased teeth whitening from my dentist. I had custom trays and was informed to bleach overnight. after a couple of days my normally even teeth became a bit whiter but much more uneven. I was away on business so called the dentist and they said to keep going and it should even out. But since I was not at home near my dentist i didn’t want it to get worse especially on my front teeth. My dentist suggested i continue on one back tooth and see what happens. So i continued on one tooth for about a week, but the uneveness did not go away so i did not continue with the bleaching. When I returned a week ago to show my dentist, and return the kit she said I was correct to stop and that she would call the company who provided the bleach. They said this can happen sometimes. In any case, she said there was nothing that could be done and to leave it and not use whitening toothpastes. I am now left with patchyness which I am very aware of and bother me and miss my normal teeth and regret starting this process. Will the bleeching eventually fade and go back to how my teeth were before or am I stuck with this uneveness? It has been four months since I stopped bleaching and I don’t see any fading of the patches that are whiter than the rest of my teeth. Can you please advise? Is there anything I can do without continuing to bleach b/c i am worried to continue as worried it will get worse. is there another treatment? My dentist thought it was more likely that this was something under my teeth that has come up (don’t know if it is calcium deposits) as a result of the bleaching than uneven bleaching b/c they were custom trays. Please help! Thanks

Does combining home whitening and whitening by a dentist produce the best results?

Thursday, February 24th, 2011
Q.

I have heard that a combination of in-office lightening using hydrogen peroxide followed by a course of tray whitening carried out by the patient at home produces the best results. I’m assuming the in-office bleaching would use 35% Hydrogen peroxide. Could you advise if this is correct, how many applications and for what length of time you’d advise and what strength of chemical (assuming carmabide peroxide) you would advise for home use? How long would you advise the patient to continue the tray bleaching and how long after the office procedure should they commence? Any other info you could provide to ensure the safety and effectiveness of this procedure would be appreciated.

What are the best teeth whitening options for stained enamel?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010
Q.
My front two teeth are discouloured and it is in the enamel caused by too much floride when I was growing up. I have tried tray bleeching kits via my dentist but my teeth are still noticebaly stained. I am interested in the laser whitening but I am not sure it would work and therefore would veneers be the best option? I would like all my teeth whitened but especially my front two. Would lazer whitening work on discoloured enamel or are veneers my best bet? How much would this cost (approx)?

Which is the best teeth whitening option for me?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Q.
Hello, I have two options in order to get my teeth whitened; can you please provide me with advice? 1. Go to my local qualified dentist and get trays create and wear those 5 days – £250. 2. Go to a teeth whitening studio that has qualifications in whitening and get the laser treatment for 1 hour – £125. Not sure which is the best option? I would be grateful of any advice. Regards,
