What Advice Can You Give to An Aspiring Dentist?

Thursday, April 23rd, 2015
Q.

I am currently in Year 12 at sixth form at Smestow Sports College. I have always had a passionate interest in dentistry and in particular, cosmetic dentistry and prosthodontics. Currently at A level I am studying biology, chemistry, maths and also French. I have started to look into universities for next year. Where did you study dentistry and is there any advice you can give me with regards to this career path, and also specialising? Thank you.

I Am In The Process Of Applying To Dental School. Do You Have Any Tips For Finding Work Experience In The Dental Industry?

Tuesday, September 9th, 2014
Q.

Good afternoon Dr Gambroudes. I would like your help with something. I am a recent sixth form leaver and I am currently in the process of applying to dental schools to get a dentistry qualification. I was wondering if you could give me some insight into finding any work experience within the dental field to better my chances. I would not really mind about the type of experience, but I feel that any experience within the field of dentistry would be of use to me. I am finding it hard to find this work experience and would just like some advice tips from an expert such as yourself. Thanks for your help.

Dear Dr Patel, If You Don’t Mind, Could You Tell Me How You Started In Cosmetic Dentistry? I’m Keen To Know What It Takes To Become A Dentist.

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Patel, I hope you can help me. I am writing to ask you about you and your career. If you don’t mind, I would like to know how you got interested in your career. I am a student and not currently a patient and I was interested in your career in cosmetic dentistry. If you don’t mind, what A-levels (or the equivalent) did you take with what grades, what universities or university did you go to and to study what? Also, I would like to know how you were able to open ‘Mulberry Dental’ as I am keen to know more about the clinic and how you were able to start it. If you are unable to tell me, that’s fine also, I understand you may be too busy.

Many thanks,
Regards.

Do I need a chemistry qualification to apply for a dentistry course?

Friday, November 26th, 2010
Q.

I am 29 years old and considering a return to higher education. I was accepted to law school after High school and opted to change to optics after a couple of years.
Unfortunately, ill health did not allow me to complete my studies in either field but I would like to return to my studies.
I have 6 Scottish Higher qualifications, I attained 5 “A” grades and 1 “B”. The subjects are Maths, English, French, Modern Studies, Physics and Human Biology. My question is whether or not I will require a Chemistry qualification to gain entry.
If I wanted to get any first hand experience of working as a dentist is there anything you would recommend I do.
Look forward to hearing from you.
