I Am 17 Years Old And I’m Wondering If I’m A Suitable Candidate For Dental Implants?

Wednesday, May 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes,

I am 17 years old and have two congenitally missing lateral incisors. I underwent orthodontic treatment and received a bridge on the NHS. I was extremely unhappy with this bridge as it was very conspicuous and unnatural looking. I then switched dentists where I received a much more natural looking bridge but I am still not entirely happy with it. I was wondering whether I am a suitable candidate for dental implants. My current dentist suggests that from my X-rays that I am not as the available gum space is too small, from what I can remember it measured roughly 3mm on the left and 3.5mm on the right. It would be great to get your advice on this. Thank you!

I’ve Been Told I Have Good Bone Structure. Would I Be A Suitable Candidate For Dental Implants?

Q.

Hello Andrew. For many years, I have hardly had any teeth on my top set, they are very worn away I have tried a set of over dentures a few years ago which didn’t work out for me. The dentist’s I’ve been too,(which is a few) have been concerned about my bite. After all the years I have been like this my bottom set are still quite good. I am told that I have a good bone structure and I was wondering if I would be a candidate to have implants fitted? Thank you for your time.

My Husband Struggles To Eat Properly As His Dentures Don’t Stay Firm, Can He Have Implants To Solve This Problem?

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel, what I’d like to mention is about my husband who currently has no bottom teeth and a top denture, he had a bottom denture made but does not wear it as it does not stay firm when eating or talking. He has trouble eating a lot of foods, as he cannot chew it properly, eg: Salads, he cannot chew lettuce, most other foods he just sucks or mushes with his tongue, not very enjoyable for him. I have heard previously that you can get two screw in teeth and then a denture that will clip to these, hence no movement of bottom plate. Was wondering what cost would be involved and how long procedure would take? I really hope you can help us sort this out.
