I’m Not Comfortable with my Crowns. Can They Be Altered?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2015
Q.

I have paid approximately £10,000 for most of my teeth to have crowns.
The bottom teeth were done last and I had several sets of temporaries to get the bite correct. The bottom finals have gone in but the front 4 teeth are too tall, they are predominant and quite apparent whilst I’m talking. They also point forward quite a lot. This is nothing like the temporaries that were fitted. I’m not comfortable with these teeth. I had them done 10 days ago. What do I do if the dentist makes it difficult for me to change after explaining? I’d really appreciate an opinion from yourself Andrew.

Will My Crown Match The Colour Of The Vaneer Next To It

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013
Q.

Hi,
4 years ago I had porcelain veneers fitted to my 2 front teeth and one tooth next to them on the NHS. I have been very happy with them and made lfestlye changes and conducted what I thought was good oral hygeine to care for them.
ONe of my front veneers came off at the weekend and smashed. At my NHS dentist on Monday she said I cant have another veneer as the quality of the tooth underneath isnt good enough so I need a crown.
I’m concerned that a porcelain fused to metal crown is not going to colour match the 2 veneers either side of it. She didnt give me any information about how it would look and dismissed my concerns that a black line would eventually show. Even though I know this to be the case after time!
What would be your advice on how to get the best aesthetics and strength in my front tooth?

Thankyou

I’m unhappy with my crown, you can see the metal at the gum line! What should I do?

Hi Doctor Moore. I recently had a crown fitted by my dentist. Recently as in less than two months ago.The crown was fitted to a tooth which had a filling due to decay. I was still subject to some pain in the tooth with the filling and was also not happy about the filling as it was extremely noticeable. The new crown which has been fitted is a completely different shade to my other teeth, sits proud of them making them look crooked and is also showing metal at the gumline. It is the second tooth from centre on the top row. It has also been filed down quite substantially under the crown. What would you advise? It’s making me feel very self-conscious. Thank you for your time, I eagerly await your response!
