Should I have my tooth removed or filled?
Q.
Is it true, you can only have a route canal fill on the same tooth once? as I have a double tooth and the back part the filling has come out. My dentist would prefer to remove the double tooth which will leave me with no back support. please can you advice if I have any other options

Dear Enquirer,
If you have a broken tooth, you can have it filled. If the filling is really large/decayed, you may require a root filling where your dentist cleans the deeper part of your tooth which contains the nerve.
If the tooth is fractured/decayed extensively, the tooth ay not be able to be saved and hence you will need an extraction.
Please ask your dentist to save your tooth. If necessary , you can ask for a referral to a specialist endodontist, who is an expert at root fillings.
I hope this helps,
Sunita
