My Gums Have Receded Due To Medium Level Gum Disease – What Treatment Should I Undertake?

Q.
Hello, Doctor. I need to tell you that I currently have medium level gum disease at the moment and my gums have receded quite a bit and I also have many gaps in my teeth with my front two teeth protruding quite a bit – what would be the best way for me to achieve a straight smile? Would the treatment be braces, veneers or dental implants? Is a straight smile even possible with implants, or will the replacement teeth look the same as the ones I currently have? Are veneers a bad option for receding gums? And what would be the best way to fix protruding front teeth/gum area? Thank you.
A.
Hello and welcome. Either would work depending on the long term prognosis of the teeth. If this is poor then you might be better to consider removal of the teeth and replacement with implants with the final bridges realigned to make the new teeth look better, subject to satisfactory bone being available. Thank you for contacting me.
