My Front Tooth Sticks Out. I’d Like To Know A Way To Fix It Without It Being Extracted?

Q.
Hello. I’m 47 and one front tooth sticks out really bad, my dentist said there is nothing he can do, because of gum problems, apart from taking it out. I tend not to smile very much because its very noticeable and I think its gotten worse over the years. If there is anything you can consider for me to bring my smile back I would be very grateful. If there is something you can do without taking it out? I am really frightened of the dentist at the best of times. He also said a crown would not work because it would make my tooth look long.

Has your dentist suggested a referral to a specialist to have your gum problem treated? This is likely to be the first and most important step. It might be possible to orthodontically move the tooth after your gums are proven healthy? Or it may not be possible to save the tooth, so an implant, retained crown or some kind of bridgework might be required. A partial denture (a removable tooth) would be the cheapest option or could be used temporarily until you heal. Or you are saving up/getting ready for a more advanced treatment? Hope that helps for now but I’d get a second opinion from dentists who are at a specialist level. Mark.
