I’ve Neglected My Dental Care For A Couple Of Years. How Do I Sort This In The Fastest/Easiest Way Possible?

Q.
Hello Dr Hughes,
I am 14 years old and one of my front teeth has a cavity, I have only noticed it today and I have a huge chip in my tooth now. I have not been very good at dental care in the past and neglected brushing my teeth for a couple of years. (I was going through a bad time and it was the last thing I was thinking about) and I haven’t been to the dentist for years. I need help. My cavity is really noticeable and I don’t know what to do? How do I sort this in the fastest way/ easiest way possible? Thanks.

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. The fastest and easiest way possible is to go to a dentist as soon as possible. DIY dentistry will only lead to more problems of this kind and will cost you in the long run. I understand it can sometimes be daunting but your dentist should put you at ease, they are the professionals and deal with a wide variety of case on a daily basis. If you don’t feel comfortable with your dentist then try to find someone you do feel comfortable seeing. I hope this advice helps you. Best wishes, Dr Mark Hughes.
