Is my new filling causing my bad breath?

Q.
Hi,

Ever since i had a filling at the back tooth of my mouth i have had consistent bad breath, even with extra strong mint products i still can taste the bad small in my mouth. have gone to 2 seperate dentists seeking help but have had no real success in resolving the issue, have asked the dentist who done the suspected filling to remove/investigate the filling but to no success as well. i do constantly now floss, wash many times a day as well as mouth wash my mouth but the problem has not gone away.

what can u suggest ido from this point onwards.

i have no real pain apart from get blisters inside my mouth from time to time.

Thank in advance

Hi

Have you seen a hygienist? I would suggest a course of hygiene under your dentist’s prescription.

Have you also changed your diet recently or started any new medication? If not and your teeth and gums are then very healthy ask for a referral to an oral medicine clinic.

Good luck

Mark

Hi, Ive been suffering from allergies tmj & severe eye pain for 20yrs since having crowns fitted. I have my top four front teeth and the rest at the top are made up of crowns & bridges with a root filling that had gone black (the tooth was recoated). I have two amalgam back teeth fillings at the bottom the rest are ok.

Recently two crowns broke at the gum my nhs dentist filled the crowns but Im still having problems with them and a back tooth broke which was filled and is very sharp. I have a weakened immune system due to having my spleen removed and am wondering if the amalgam fillings could be causing the allergies.

I’m thinking of going private and having the two bottom fillings replaced with white ones (although they are old 22yrs and the teeth may not take the fillings) and partial dentures for the top instead of bridges & crowns (my nhs dentist says he doesnt want to touch the crowns or bridges and prefers to fill them they’ve been in for 22years)

How much will this cost me and is this the right course of action as I’m now getting desperate to get rid of the constant allergies & eye pain.

I had my lower left second molar tooth filled last October and it is totally filled because almost all of the inner portion of my tooth is drilled and removed. I payed more than the amount that i should be paying for a a single tooth filling because my dentist told me that it was a difficult procedure and now a part of its filling is chipped out i wonder if it still can be filled or extracted? even though it doesn’t give me any pain aside from discomfort of feeling that i have something sharp inside my mouth.

Do go back to your dentist who will help you to get comfortable again with that tooth. You may need a crown on that tooth to protect it. Regards,

My teeth are quite strong – I rarely have cavities. I have been to the same dentist for about 2 years now and every 6 months they tell me things are looking good. I went for my routine checkup this week and all of a sudden they said I need an onlay because there is a gap developing between my previous filling and my tooth. They said a new filling is not an option because it’s past that point. Is it possible that this can happen in 6 months? I’m just surprised because I hardly have cavities. I haven’t had any in 2 years and now all of a sudden I need to have an onlay? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

Fillings can break down and it can happen quite quickly, if its a large filling the best way to up grade it is with an onlay as it will last longer

I got a filling about a month ago, and it didn’t start bothering me until today. Everytime I try to open my mouth to speak or eat a sandwhich, I get a sharp pain right where my filling. It hurts really bad, and I was just wondering what it could be and if it is normal.

It may be something as simple as needing a bite adjustment. Consult with the dentist who treated you.
