I want to remove my baby canines and get braces. How should I go about this?

Q.
Hello
I have two upper baby canines that never came out up to this day. The adult teeth formed inside the gums but did not grow out as there was no space for them, I had x-rays done that showed their position. I am 26 years old. I would like to know if it’s ok to leave those adult teeth that are inside the gums as they are or if I have to get them removed somehow. Would leaving them there cause any complications/problems? I just want to remove the baby canines and get braces to straight the teeth that are next to them but I don’t know what I should do about the ones that never grew out of the gums.

Hi
If they are deeply buried without affecting the roots of adjacent teeth you might be able to leave them. However you will need to be assessed with regards to how to fill the residual space where the baby teeth were.
You will have to discuss the types of bridge , implant or denture options , and depending on what you choose this may also impact what happens to the buried teeth.

It’s actually a complex issue and needs a comprehensive consultation with an experienced dentist
