I used to have a brace and my teeth are wonky again

Q. I used to have a brace and my teeth became straight, but have now become wonky again. I wanted to have veneers on my two front wonky teeth but the dentist told me, because genetically my teeth are wonky, even vaneers will move and become wonky. Is this true?

A. This is not correct. With time and age teeth with naturaly move but there are methods that can be put in place to prevent this. If you wanted to get another brace to fix this, when they are taken of, the orthodontist will place a retainer (small wire) on the back of your teeth to stop them from moving back. He may also give you removable retainers to wear to bed every night.

If it was Veneers that you would like to go for, then I supply all of my patients with a mouthguard to wear to bed to prevent any movement.

Hope this has been of help to you.
