I tend to grind my teeth a lot. Should I get a mouthguard?

Q. I grind my teeth in my sleep and am wondering if i should get a mouthguard?,
A. Hello, Yes I would highly recommend wearing a night splint to protect you teeth from wearing and the possibility of chipping your teeth and future breakages.

Hi i know this may seem a silly question but whats the difference between a splint and a night guard? Or are they the same?

There is no difference in terminology between the two, but there are dozens if not hundreds of different types of splints (the correct term is orthotic appliance)

my dentist says i need a night guard because he thinks i grind my teeth as i am not well, dizzy, headaches, ear pain,neck/shoulder and back pain, fatigue etc.I feel i don’t clench or grind my teeth and feel its more my jaw is out of line so will the night guard not help this if this is the case? I have only had an x ray taken and no other tests so i don’t know how they can come to this assumption. I want to see Dr glaister for the neuromuscular tests but i live 6-7 hrs away and it would be very costly with the numerous visits and wondered if you could recommend anyone further up north who deals with TMJ problems?
