I live in Malta I was concerned about why my maryland bridge come out
Q. Hi i am 24 years of age and live in Malta I was concerned about something and saw this website and would like to ask you something, I have a misssing tooth my left side lateral incisor and 4 years ago i had a maryland bridge with one wing placed, it has been ok since but yesterday it fell out the dentist who first put it in for me passed away and i had to find another one to fix it back in . Its been cleaned and recemented in now my question is basically why did it come out? as i am very carefull by my eating habits and can it come out again? the dentist told me it is only temporary but i was told it will last i intend to do something more permanent like implant in future but am i ok for now with the Maryland bridge ? Thanks very much for your time and help
A. Hi A maryland bridge is a great long-term temporary solution to a missing tooth. However they can debond at any time if the cement bond breaks, that is why an implant supported crown is a more reliable long term alternative
Thanks very much for your reply, i am planning on something more permanent like an implant in future but do you think it can come out again after it has been re cemented as i am worried it will come ut regularly now as it never came out or gave me any problems before?? and besides implants what other alternatives are there instead of a Maryland? Thanks and regards
Wayne
