I Have A 2-3mm Gap Between My Two Front Teeth, Would I Have A Lisp If I Got Them Bonded?

Q.
Hello, Doctor Patel. I’d like to start by telling you firstly that I have a gap about 2-3mm wide between my two front central incisor teeth, and I would like to have the cosmetic bonding treatment on them to close up the gap, but I wanted to know if this would cause me to have any problems speaking, for example, is there a chance that I could start to develop a lisp? Also, I would also like to know if my two front teeth would look rather wide after the treatment has taken place?
Thank you, I really hope you can get back to me on this one.

Hello, It’s always a pleasure to try and help our readers overcome problems such as this so I’d like to thank you for the time you have taken to ask this question. It all depends, as that’s quite a large gap to fill in. I think your dentist could possibly do a trial smile to demonstrate how it all would look and hopefully but you at ease, I think you may also want to consider braces or other options as they may be better but I would have to see you in person to give you what I consider to be the best options. Thank Dr Riten Patel.
