I Am Very Self Conscious Of My Gummy Smile. Can This Be Done Through The NHS As I Am Under 16?

Q.
As a 15 year old would I be able to have my gummy smile removed and have my two front teeth filed down in line with the rest through the NHS? I am very self conscious of them and I avoid photos. I am also hoping to have a career in acting and I know that having those problems unfixed would jeopardize that. My gummy smile is a few millimetres of gum showing, mainly from a low gum line between each tooth. My two front teeth are also 2 millimetres longer than the the teeth next to them and I would love to have them filed down level to the others. If I can, how much would it cost and how long would take to get an appointment and have it done? Thank you for your time.

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. Unfortunately as a private dentist I wouldn’t know the latest NHS regulations but you could ask for a referral to an orthodontist or dental hospital. There are other options available to treat a gummy smile but unfortunately they are private and you would also need to be over 18. Speak to your dentist and run through your options. You could also find some more information on gummy smile treatments through this websites.
