I am 54, am i too old for orthodontic treatment and how much will it cost?

Q.
I am 54 years old and have had a severe overbite all my life – my teeth always look dreadful and I hate having my photogrpah taken or having to smile when people are watching. I never had a chance to have orthodontic treatment – it didn’t happen when I was young in the same way it does now. Alos my teeth ache because my bite is so out of line.

Two questions

1 Is it possible to have orthodontic treatment at my age?
2 How much would it cost – this will probably prevent me having it done and I don’t suppose any of this gets done on NHS.

Any help appreciated.

My overbite is about 15mm

Dear Enquirer,
What a shame that your teeth position is affecting the way you feel about yourself and affects your self confidence.
There is no need for badly positioned teeth to be a factor that holds you back in any aspect of your life as cosmetic dentistry can slove these issues at any age. So the good news is that age 54 is not a problem, as wee have many patients at my practice older than you and are currently in braces treatment.
In terms of cost, the treatments can vary from £2,000 to £6000 depending on what treatment is required. At my practice,we allow patients to spread their payments over a year, on an interest free basis, thereby allowing them to be able to afford treatments.
I hope this helps and I do hope this gives you the incentive to put yourself first and seek out a solution to something that is standing in the way of a beautiful smile and your self esteem.
