Is it too late for alterations to be made to my porcelain veneer?

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr Mark Hughes,

I have recently put a porcelain crown on my front upper tooth. Once anaesthesia stopped acting I noticed discomfort as feel it all the time and cannot chew properly as it feels like there is not enough room for my lower tooth. My friends say I will get used to it but I tend to think it is too big for me. Can the alterations be made or it is too late now?
Please help.
Thank you.

Are there options to make veneered teeth look even?

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011
Q.

Hello! I was just wondering- my front two teeth are veneered due to an accident. I have noticed that my left front tooth has a low gumline, and the right is about 4mm higher. I understand this was probably the case before the veneers but its really bothering me! Also, the veneer on the right is more ‘built forward’ if that makes sense than the left. I know this is not the greatest problem in the world but I am getting married next year and its bothering me and makes me feel self concious. I hate the thought of the photos! Are there any options avilable to make them more even? Thank you

I’m wearing braces but am not happy with teeth size, should I get veneers?

Monday, April 4th, 2011
Q.

Hello there, I am wondering what you think I should do.. I am 16 years old and have braces. My teeth are pretty straight and am getting them off soon. Its just I am really unhappy with the size of my teeth alot of people have said that my dentist will add at the bottom to make them look longer but I feel its the top of the teeth it needs to be added to. My gums are lower down than any normal person and before I had braces my mouth wouldn’t close at ease it would be me making my lips close because I have a high lip. As my lips were not closed my top lip just sat on my gum causing it to make an indent in my gum, but when laughing people can see it and I think its horrible! Also when I was 5 or 6 my teeth got hit with a car door which cause my to front teeth to chip quite badly the right one wasn’t so bad and is fixed with a cap? but the left one was split right across the half way mark and couldn’t be fixed with a cap so my dentist gave me a crown. I have done some research online and came across gum shrinking and porcelain veneers which I think would be a lot nicer than the teeth I have now, could you give me advice on what you think I should do? Thanks, Michelle

There are spaces between my veneers, will these eventually close?

Thursday, March 31st, 2011
Q.

I had veneers fitted on my two front teeth, due to sickness I had to keep the tempory veneers on for ten weeks in result that the tempories pushed the gum line back in two areas, now that my veneers are fitted I have a few spaces, between the teeth will my gum fall back into place when everything settles down?

How much does it cost to re-apply a veneer?

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011
Q.

What is the average cost of re-applying a veneer that has come off, including the preparation/cleaning and removal of cement from the veneer. Last time this happened I was charged £190.00 which I thought was excessive.
