My veneers keep falling off, what permanent solutions are available for me?

Friday, August 31st, 2012
Q.

hello i have two composite veneers on my two front teeth as they broke in half a while back. i have been having a problem as every time they have fallen out iv asked to have something a bit more permanent and i have had this problem since i was 18 and it’s getting too much! i am now 24 and i am just wondering if there is some reason my army dentist wont give me something that will last longer? he told me to never use my front teeth or they would come out and not being able to eat with front teeth is quite difficult with certain foods. he can’t expect me not to use my front teeth can he? also they discolour very fast witch is not a good look at all. thank you for your time and i look forward to hearing back from you.

I had my tooth root filled 2 years ago and I am not happy with how it looks now, would a veneer be of any help?

Thursday, August 30th, 2012
Q.

Hello. I had an accident a couple of years ago that resulted in one of my front teeth having to be root filled. It is now 2 years on and i am still not happy with the colour and how it looks as it has now changed position too! Is it safe for me to have a veneer do you think? I know that i will need to have both of my front treated so that they match but I am concerned that because it has been root filled that it won’t be suitable for a veneer. this causes me real concern but i also am desperate for something to be done as it doesn’t look very nice  at all. I have tried all types of bleaching and had composite placed on but i am still not happy with the colour of the tooth.

How do I know if I am being treated by a highly experienced cosmetic dentist?

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012
Q.

Hi there. Sorry to bother you but how can I found out abot the dentist I have chosen in central London, is there a list of dentists you can look up for quality etc? I was quite happy with who I’ve chosen but am now having reservations and have just read a daily mail article ( from 2008 granted) by a fashion editor who went to see someone in Linton who was supposed to be top notch and had done pop stars teeth but she ended up having a nightmare and not only left with poor quality veneers that fellmout after 6 weeks but is isn constant pain form the procedure? How can you judge your dentists? I am starting to panic now despite only wanting two from top veneers 745 per veneer (is this normal price?) can you possiblynassist in helping find out the reputation of my chided dentist as the article pointed out top London dentists who work on celebs are not always the best ? Kindest regards

Should I have my veneers replaced or go ahead with brace treatment instead?

Monday, August 20th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I was hoping for some advice regarding the replacement of veneers. I have had veneers since I was 11 – I had 2 fitted to my lateral incisors as they were tiny and pointed, and I then had 2 more fitted at about 12/13 to my canine teeth for a similar reason. Although it was a definite improvement, I was never particularly happy with them, and had them replaced at 18. This set have been slightly better but I’m now nearly 26 and am still not entirely happy. I’ve always felt my canine teeth are too prominent, and my incisors too small. I think I had teeth removed when I was younger as the canines were growing above, and although they moved back roughly into place, I never had braces to sort them (and what I think is a slight overbite from years of thumb sucking!) out. I feel they face towards the front too much and stick out from the line of my other teeth (I am constantly faffing with them), and the small size of the adjacent teeth only makes them more prominent. I also feel I’d like my teeth to be slightly whiter – I consulted my dentist about this but she advised me that my teeth are already fairly light and I would only get a few shades whiter with a bleaching treatment, which might not be worth it. However, I’m not really after “Hollywood white” teeth, I just feel that because I have very pale skin, my teeth can have a tendency to look a little yellow and I’d like them to look a bit brighter. I suppose my main question is whether it would be worth looking into having replacement veneers and whitening at this stage – if I had new veneers applied to my 6 front teeth at the top, might it be likely to give a more unified look? Or do I need to resort to something like braces to realign the canines before I consider having them replaced? At this age, I’m not much keen on that idea, but at the same time I don’t want to spend a lot of money on veneers and still be unhappy. I realise this is probably a long winded and difficult question to answer without seeing my teeth, and to be honest, I haven’t seen the teeth under my veneers for so long, I don’t know how much is down to the tooth alignment, and how much is down to the size of the veneers. I’m just looking for some advice on the best course of action, which my Denplan dentist seems a bit reluctant to offer me. I recently chipped quite a large piece off one of my veneers and she wouldn’t even consider replacing it. I am considering changing over to a more cosmetic based dental practice, but am hoping to know what my options might be beforehand. Hope you can help, and apologies for the long message. Thanks.

Monday, August 20th, 2012
Q.

Hello i have been looking to find a dentist that is able to fit one veneer to my front tooth. It has given me many years of insecurities and I am eager to do something about it now. The only problem i have is due awful experiences as a child i can no longer have injections in the mouth. I have opted for sedation via another dentist than my own but i have just discovered lumineers and your clinic has come up that it offers such a service. Could i have as much information as you can possibly give about this e.t.c pain? what is involved and how much this would cost? thank you

Would veneers work to hide brown stains on teeth?

Thursday, August 16th, 2012
Q.

hello doctor moore,  i need some advice from you as i am really suffering. i have brown stains on my bottom teeth and i’ve tried everything to get them away but with no success. i have a denture but only 2 teeth at the back of my teeth are clear from decay. and ive got 2 types of arthritis so my teeth look like they are fading in colour now. can you help me smile again? how much will it cost me? i am disabled due to my arthritis and house bound. i am 40 and really don’t feel like smiling cause of my teeth. i think veneers would be good for me as they would brighten my smile and make me feel happier. i don’t think i need any teeth replacing so can you advise me on the cost? thanks.

How much should I expect to pay for a single tooth implant?

Friday, August 10th, 2012
Q.

Hello, Dr Moore. I wondered if you could tell me how much would I be expected to pay for, a single dental implant? I require tooth replacement in the upper back left of my mouth, as it currently has a huge filling in it and my dentist thinks it will need replacing pretty soon. I also think I may need braces, here is the situation: My teeth are not overly misaligned but I would like a nice smile with straight teeth. I feel tooth whitening may help my teeth also and I require a new veneer of my front left tooth which will need replaced following teeth whitening. What do you think, how much all of this treatment cost me?

Can you tell me the difference between standard veneers and the new ultra-thin veneers?

Monday, August 6th, 2012
Q.

Do thin veneers like lumineers fitted to teeth with no shaving make the teeth look thick ? Are they always preferable to standard porcelain veneers which involve shaving off more of the tooth ? Please can you advise the pros and cons of standard veneers versus the new thin veneers currently available. For long lasting, natural looking stain resistant teeth, which of the market leaders such as lumineers, mac or da Vinci do you recommend please ?

Can my overbite be fixed with dental veneers?

Monday, August 6th, 2012
Q.

I have an overbite. Both my top and bottom teeth jut out. I’ve been having on and off ortho work done for years and years. But turns out my doctor was a quack. And they are still not fixed. They are due to the fact that my teeth r just too big for my mouth. My bottom teeth are very close together not fully overlapping but the edges are very close and slightly overlap each other. I want to know if this all can be fixed with veneers. All the jutting, the crowdedness, all of it and I’m willing for them to shave down my teeth for as long as my lips fall on my teeth a lot nicer when closing and for a gorgeous smile. Can this happen? What do I ask for?
