My new dentures don’t fit after their first week, is there anything I can do about this?

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
Q.

In June of this year I got upper dentures. I was given a temporary plate to wear for 90 days. I was told the permanent plate would look like my natural teeth, they took 3 impressions of my natural teeth. I went last week to get the permanent plate and it is lose. I can push it out with my tongue. But worse than that I cannot close my mouth. My mouth is open and the dentist told me it was the result of the larger teeth in the permanent plate and didn’t think there was anything they could do about it. What should I do? I really need some help here. Thank you.

Will teeth extraction from the back of my mouth make my cheeks look sunken?

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
Q.

I have 2 top back teeth that need extraction on the same side. The alternative option is expensive and might not work due to heavily filled teeth and infection. If I decided to have these extracted would it make my cheek look abit sunken? futurewise I would have an implant in place once its all healed. Thanks

My teeth are already straight after 6 months of brace treatment, will they need to stay on for the full 2 years?

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
Q.

My orthodntist does not speak english very well so i have trouble asking him questions. I had braces put on 6 months ago to correct 2 eye teeth that protruded slightly ( i was too self conscious of them) they have been straight for 2 months now – so will i need to have them on for the full 2 years? what is the least time frame i could hope for?

I can’t afford the price of two implants, do yo think the prices will ever decrease?

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
Q.

I have seen a consultant re two front teeth – I now need to have them extracted and have a bone graft, after that I have a choice of denture or implant as the bridge is not recommended. I am 59 yrs of age and recently been made redundant. The cost for bone graft and two implants with subsequent follow up is over £8,000 and I cannot get this on the NHS. My question is this, we can obtain hip replacements etc on the NHS but something like implants we can’t. I cannot afford this amount of money and am now conscious of so many people who have gaps in their teeth because of the high cost of implants – is this really fair when we are told to look after our teeth but we cannot afford to. I may have to result to a denture which I am anxious about as it is at the front of my mouth and I have memories of my parents taking their teeth out at night. I do not want my partner to witness this. Will it ever be cost effective so that more people can take advantage of it?
