I Have Small Gaps Between My Front Four Teeth. Which Low Risk Treatment Can I Have To Fix This?

Friday, May 9th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I have small gaps in my four front teeth, and my front two teeth have slightly more space than the other adjacent teeth. The two front teeth look bigger than the others when I smile. So what is the best way to fill all the gaps and improve, so I can have a beautiful smile without any risk or side effects. There are no cavities or pains in my teeth. I am a non-smoker and a non-drinker and a vegeterian. However, I take 3-4 cups of tea daily. So could you please advise me on what I could do? Thank you for your time.

My NHS Dentist Refused To Give Me Braces For Free. Is There Any Way I Could Afford This Treatment?

Thursday, May 8th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have a bit of a gap between my front teeth which is 1 cm long. My two teeth are not straight and they stick out. This is due to me sucking my thumb since childhood. I feel like my gap is getting bigger and it sometimes hurts. I have been to several dentist within NHS however they refuse to give me braces for free. What treatment would you advise for me? I am interested in the 6 month smile treatment. How would I be able to afford this? Thank you, I look forward to your reply.

I’m Having Second Thoughts About Invisalign. Can I Get My Deposit Back Even After The Moulds Have Been Made?

Thursday, May 8th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I hope you can help me. I recently went to the dentist to have Invisalign.

I had moulds made of my teeth, and I am waiting for the Clincheck from America to decide if I am happy to go ahead with the process.

I am having second thoughts about the braces. However I have paid a 500 pound deposit that I was told was taken for the moulds, X-ray, etc. I am wondering if I changed my mind could I get the deposit back or have I forfeited it due to having the moulds made? Thank you for helping me with this matter.

I Have Multiple Diastema And I Don’t Like The Spaces In Between My Teeth. Is There Any Other Treatment Than Braces To Fix This?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can help me. I have a problem with my teeth that they have some protrusion and multiple diastema. I am not annoyed about the protrusion but I don’t like the spaces so I had them treated with composite veneers 7 years ago and now my composite veneers have turned yellow. I know I need orthodontic treatment but I am anxious about all braces. What are my other alternatives? I have a video for the case if I can send it? I am 28 years old. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I Fractured My Teeth When I Was Young And Now The Cracks Are Opening. Could You Offer Me Advice On How To Sort Them Out?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. When I was a child I was involved in an accident and got run over by a lorry as I hit the ground I landed on my chin braking my jaw both sides and cracking a lot of my teeth. As I was only young and it was hair-line fractures through my teeth I was told there was nothing they could do. But now as an adult and after losing a few teeth all the cracks are opening and it’s only going to get worse. I was a heavy smoker and coffee drinker but I have given them up. Please could you offer some advice as to how I go about sorting them out.

My Gums Shrank Considerably And Now I Look 5 Years Older. Can Anything Be Done To Bring Back My Youthful Appearance?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I am a young looking 65 year old.
My dentist misjudged my gums while
preparing them for 8 span bridge he was having made for me. He removed too much and as a result I needed to have a crown lengthening. My gums
shrank considerably after I was healed.
I now look at least 5 years older than I
did before the surgery. Can anything be done to bring back my youthful
appearance? Should I reporting him
to the peer review board? Thank you. I look forward to your reply.

I Get Embarrassed Whenever I Smile With My Large Front Teeth. I Wonder What Can Be Done?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I am 21 years old and my 2 front teeth are bigger than normal ones. I get embarrassed whenever I smile with them and I’ve also got a tooth growing out the top of my gum. I’ve got a couple of bottom teeth that are wobbly too, even though I clean them twice a day and I’m a non-smoker. Also, I’ve got a tooth missing next to the front tooth but the tooth from the gum covers it up. They don’t get any cleaner no matter how much I clean them. I am just wondering what there is to be done as I’m only 21 and it’s not looking good for me in the future? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer me.

I Have 9 Teeth Extracted. Would There Be Some Kind Of Payment Plan Available To Have Implants?

Friday, May 2nd, 2014
Q.

I am having surgery done this soon. I’m having all the back teeth have been removed. I only have 11 bottom teeth and have had root canal treatment on 6. I know eventually these will have to be taken out at some point. I have looked after my teeth but right from the age of 5. I was always having work done. I went into hospital at 21 and had an operation on my upper gum resulting to gum disease and this left me absolutely horrified with the result. More treatment was needed resulting to crowns which kept falling out. My last dentist left the practice and I felt let down as he helped build my confidence up but now I am really scared of the what might happen. The only option on NHS is a full denture plate. I am very nervous and worried about this as the feed back I’ve heard about dentures I would like to have implants instead. Would I be able to get them on some sort of payment plan?

My Front Tooth Sticks Out. I’d Like To Know A Way To Fix It Without It Being Extracted?

Friday, May 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello. I’m 47 and one front tooth sticks out really bad, my dentist said there is nothing he can do, because of gum problems, apart from taking it out. I tend not to smile very much because its very noticeable and I think its gotten worse over the years. If there is anything you can consider for me to bring my smile back I would be very grateful. If there is something you can do without taking it out? I am really frightened of the dentist at the best of times. He also said a crown would not work because it would make my tooth look long.

A Had A Bad Slip And Snapped My Teeth. Would It Be Better To Use Cosmetic Bonding Or Veneers To Rebuild My Teeth?

Thursday, May 1st, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark,

I’ve unfortunately slipped on a wet floor last week and landed on my jaw face down and have snapped off a third of both of my front teeth horizontally. There are also some minor cracks in the enamel which go up to the gum line in one tooth. My family’s NHS dentist covered the exposed roots over with a temporary white filling. I’ve got to leave it on for 2 weeks to see if the root decides to die off. He then suggested opting for composite bonding to re-build my teeth. I would really appreciate a second opinion from a cosmetic expert whether this was a sensible approach or whether veneers would be a better investment from the outset. Would the bonding method look okay and match the top half of my teeth? Can it be used to cover the cracks up to my gumline? Can it snap off easily as it’s quite a large area and further damage my existing teeth? Would be great to get your thoughts.
